everyone talks quality but i wanna see real numbers. scraped about 100k product listings last month across diff projects. here's the raw data from my logs.
datacenter proxies (generic provider): avg success rate 73%, epc around $0.42 per 1k requests. residential (using smartproxy pool): success rate 91%, epc jumps to $1.08 per 1k. thats a huge diff in cost per successful req.
my question is simple - when does the extra cost of residential actually pay off? if you're just hitting basic apis and not google/socials, feels like dc might still be fine even with lower conv. what are your actual epc benchmarks right now?
 
yo but are you sure those success rates are the full story? like what if the residential proxies get blocked less or have better longevity? sometimes paying more upfront saves you headaches in the long run lol. what if your success rate climbs even higher with residential? just a thought.
 
Careful with that, sometimes the extra cost doesn't pay off if your main focus is just scraping basic data, not social or google. gotta weigh if the lower failure rate and better longevity actually save you enough to justify the higher epc. ymmv.
 
just my 2 cents: if ur scraping simple APIs and success rate is decent, dc proxies are probably enough, but if u need longevity and less block risk residential might justify the extra cost long-term.

actually i did a test last month and datacenter proxies gave me way faster results for my scrape and cost me less overall like way less i think ppl underestimate the speed difference and how much that can matter when u gotta scrape tons of data real quick.

nah i totally disagree, i did a test last month too and residential proxies (like for real) actually slowed me down a lot and costs added up quick. i get why ppl wanna use em tho, bans suck, but honestly for me datacenter proxies still the way to go for speed and cheapness. sometimes u gotta just accept the risk.
