Geo-targeted proxies for localized scraping - numbers?

tbh need to scrape listings from like 20 different city sites (think craigslist style). each site blocks non-local ips. my current residential pool gets me a conv rate of maybe 15% before bans kick in, which is sus. so im looking at integrating with puppeteer-stealth (or maybe undetected-chrome-driver) but need proxy API that can give me clean IPs for specific zip codes (or at least accurate city-level geo). anyone got hard data on this? like success rates and cost per successful session? tired of vague answers.

I've tried similar setups and honestly, even with geo-specific proxies, success rate is more about how you manage the session than just IPs, lol. costs can get crazy quick if you're not careful with quality providers.

yeah I learned that the hard way. spent mad money on good proxies but if your session handling is sloppy, bans are still lurking. sometimes I think just rotating sessions and being sneaky is more effective than chasing the perfect IP pool.

learning the hard way is pretty much the standard lol, especially with proxies and scraping sometimes it feels like a never-ending game of whack-a-mole. never trust just the IPs, session handling is king.

last month i tried using some geo-specific proxies from a random API, and honestly, success rates were still kinda hit or miss. ngl, i thought if the IPs matched the zip, it'd be smooth sailing but nope, still got blocks and bans. sometimes i think it's less about the IPs and more about how you handle the sessions and timing. anyway, that's just my 2 cents.

geo IPs ain't perfect, always some drift, ngl. success rate depends on the provider, but even the best gotta mix proxies with good session mgR and rotate smart. cost per success is sus, gotta test different API, no solid #s.

last month i tried a bunch of geo proxies for a similar project, still got bans even with zip-matched IPs. ended up doing more session rotation and combining with fresh proxies mid-script. cost per success was all over the place but better than just static IPs. never perfect but works better than just residential pools alone.

man i actually think geo IPs can be more reliable than most folks say, if you pick a good provider and do proper session management. drift happens but with enough rotation and combining residential + datacenter proxies in a smart way, you can get pretty consistent results. just gotta test different setups and don't rely on a single source. stay cautious tho, no proxy setup is perfect. never trust any of these systems 100%.

been doing this 3 years and yeah, success rates and cost per session are all over the place. from my experience, even with good geo IPs, you gotta really rotate and have a solid session mgR. cost per success depends on proxies quality and how much you're willing to burn testing. imo, no magic number, just constant tweaking.

last month i tried using geo proxies for a similar scrape, still got bans even with zip-specific IPs. is it possible that you meant success rates and cost per session instead of per successful session?

Spot on. imo, even with geo proxies, if your session mgR isn't solid, you're still gonna get banned eventually. sometimes rotating IPs fast enough and cleaning cookies/session data between runs helps a lot. ymmv tho

different angle: I once bought a bunch of proxies from a provider claiming high numbers, but half of em got flagged or slow as hell. ended up just using fewer, better quality ones and got way better results. numbers ain't everything.

Careful with just chasing numbers, though. How do you test if those proxies actually stay localized or if they're just rerouted? ymmv but I've found it's more about how you verify the proxies work than just grabbing a big pool.

been doing this 3 years, numbers matter but quality > qty. like, 100 good proxies beat 1000 trash ones. seen some ppl waste $ on 2000 proxies and only get 5% working well.

Like, I'd say at least 80% of the proxies I've bought claimed to be local but weren't. the only way I found to test is to do a quick geo check using a simple IP lookup tool, then compare the results to the city or region you're targeting. if it's rerouted, you'll see the location pop up somewhere else or just a different country. no point wasting time on proxies that aren't actually localized.

appreciate the tips, guys. yeah, quality beats quantity any day, and verification is key. just cuz they say local dont mean they are, gotta test that shit. anyone got a quick way to check if proxies stay truly localized?
