VPN travel: actual streaming performance numbers abroad?

VPN travel: actual streaming performance numbers abroad?

Alright I'm about to bounce for a month in SEA and EU, need solid geo-unblocking for work and shows. My go-to Express worked fine at home but died last trip in Japan - Netflix US just wouldn't load after day 3. So looking at maybe Surfshark or Proton for this run.
What I really need are real conv rates with foreign servers - not just connection speed but actual successful stream starts. I'll be testing WireGuard on mobile mostly. If you've got recent data on which providers actually maintain consistent access to like HBO Max, Prime Video, Disney+ from abroad drop the numbers. Bonus points if you know battery drain stats for long sessions.
Catch ya.

yo quick thought: honestly, trying to find a provider that guarantees access to all those streaming services abroad is kinda pointless, especially with how often they block VPNs. You might get lucky with some, but it's a constant game of cat and mouse. best bet is always testing different servers and not relying on a single VPN for everything.

hey, you meant Proton VPN right? Just making sure lol. Yeah, I agree, finding a VPN that actually works for all streaming abroad is kinda a hit or miss.

just my 2 cents: I actually had decent success with Surfshark for streaming in SEA and EU, especially with their obfuscation tech. afaik, Proton's speeds and stability aren't quite there yet for steady streaming. successful stream starts are more about the server load and local VPN obfuscation than just

Honestly, I think expecting perfect streaming abroad is kinda naive. I remember last year trying to watch US Netflix from Thailand, and it was a nightmare for weeks. Anyone else find that some providers just flat out block certain regions no matter what?

Come on, lol? Like Proton VPN is the only one that needs clarification? I swear sometimes people act like all VPNs are the same and no one could possibly be confused. But yeah, I've had my own share of weirdness with these providers trying to keep up with the geo-restriction game.

honestly honestly I think that's kinda right but I've seen some VPNs like Surfshark and Nord hold up prettyyy well even with high server loads like over 70% full, so maybe it's not just obfuscation.
