VPN router vs app - whats the point of using a router anyway?

man so im lookin at this setup stuff. got my vpn sub and it all works fine on my pc with the app. but everyone keeps talkin about putting it on ur router too. that seems like a pain tbh. whats the real point? is it just for gadgets that cant run an app like a smart tv or whatever? or does it actually make ur connection more stable or something if u put it on the router instead of each device? idk im really stuck here

just my 2 cents, using a vpn on the router can save you the hassle of setting it up on each device and might give you more consistent coverage. but do you actually notice much difference in speed or stability when it's on the router? or are you mainly worried about compatibility?

80% of my clients just want simple, no fuss, covers everything fam. compatibility is def a thing but mostly it's about ease and consistency, so yeah, router VPN is smoother for most.

lol, yeah, pretty much, I got my smart fridge that refuses to run apps but loves VPNs now. router VPN makes everything chill w/o me messing with each device. ngl, it's a vibe

My take is, you might think it's just for gadgets that can't run apps but honestly, I've seen cases where routing VPNs actually improve stability for streaming and gaming since everything gets a consistent connection. but I disagree that it's just about fuss-free setup, sometimes it actually boosts your whole network's performance if your ISP's connection is flaky. ymmv tho.

yo, u think the main thing is just about convenience or do u actually notice speed/stability differences when u route through the router? sometimes it's not just gadgets, it can be about keeping everything on the same vpn connection smooth rn.

yeah, this. in my experience, routing VPNs on the router helps keep things stable, especially if u got multiple devices or some with weird network needs. makes life way easier than messing with each device

thanks for the input, guys. yeah, using a VPN on the router is just about making sure everything gets protected w/o me messing with each device. i guess for devices that can't run the app, it's kinda. and if it helps with stability, imho, that's a bonus. may give it a shot soon.

last month i was reading that using a vpn router can connect all devices automatically, which sounds kinda handy since 60% of smart homes have more than 10 gadgets. do you think it actually saves time or is it more about security?

I saw a stat that 70% of people don't realize a VPN router can actually block more threats than just hiding IPs. But imo, a VPN app is easier for quick switches without messing with network configs. So yeah, depends if you wanna geek out or just surf

Careful with assuming a VPN router is always better, fr. I mean, it does connect everything at once which sounds cool, but for quick stuff switching apps might just be easier. Plus, some routers can be a pain to set up if you're not techy. Honestly, depends on what you need if you're managing a bunch of devices all the time, a router could save you some hassle. If not, apps are quick and simple.

Nah, I think a VPN app is fine for most. Routers can be overkill unless you got mad gadgets or wanna block threats at network level.

stats say 80% of ppl don't realize a VPN router can help block malware at network level, not just hide IP. 2) but rn, most just want quick, easy VPNs so app's enough unless u got complex setup or need total control. 3) honestly, if u only got a few

bruh, honestly I've set up VPN routers before but I found most ppl just want simple solutions. I get that network level stuff is cool but if u just wanna surf w/o hassle, the app is enough for most. unless u got a bunch of devices or serious security needs, I don't think u gotta go router.

Last month I installed a VPN router for a client who runs a small business. Honestly, most of their staff just wanted simple VPN access w/o messing with apps all the time. But I do get why some folks want a router - it covers the whole network, not just one device, and can block malware at the source. Still, if it's just casual browsing or streaming, apps usually do the trick. It's all about what level of control or convenience you actually need

just my 2 cents: sometimes a VPN router can be a lifesaver for device compatibility and auto-connection, especially if you got a bunch of IoT gadgets or multiple users. quick tip - set up the router with a kill switch feature, so if the VPN drops, your traffic stops immediately. that way, you get privacy without manually connecting every device.

yo disagree here, I think apps can do just fine for most casual use, especially if u just want quick connection and no fuss. I've set up VPN apps for friends and it works smooth without the need for a whole router. a VPN router can be handy but isn't always necessary unless u got a bunch of devices or need more control.
