VPN for travel, accessing content abroad, still trusting the hype?

So I posted about VPNs for streaming and geo-unblocking a while back but honestly I'm getting kinda tired of seeing everyone just parrot the same crap. Everyone recommends the big names like Nord or Express and then claims speeds are

been doing this 3 years, and honestly the big names ain't always the fastest or most reliable. sometimes smaller vpn's work better for my needs but ppl just stick to the hype. speeds vary a lot fam, gotta test

careful with trusting just big names for VPNs. a lot of the time, smaller providers like ProtonVPN or Surfshark can hit better speeds for streaming or travel because they have fewer users and less congestion. a pro tip is to run speed tests during peak hours on multiple VPNs and see which gives you consistent speeds over a week. don't just rely on hype, test it yourself.

honestly i feel you, 90% of the threads just copy the same names over and over. I've seen small providers with better speeds for travel and streaming but nobody talks about them cuz of the hype train. speed can vary a lot depending on where you connect from and when, so don't take the hype at face value.

spot on, testing is key but most folks just get stuck on big names. I found some smaller ones actually give me better speeds and stability, but people don't wanna hear that cuz of the hype. gotta experiment yourself to find what works.

different angle: yeah, and that's why I always test a few servers in different locations before trusting any VPN for travel or streaming, especially with smaller providers that aren't as hyped. Most of the time you gotta do some homework yourself instead of just trusting reviews.

lol I tried a small VPN once for travel and ended up with way better speeds than the big names, but I was paranoid about the security so I switched back. Ever had a VPN surprise you like that?

Last month i tried a small VPN for travel and was shocked how fast and stable it was. Still kinda nervous about security tho, so I switched back to the big names. Anyone else get a VPN that surprised them like that?

Over 70% of folks stick with big names but I've actually had solid speeds from some smaller VPNs on the go. Been surprised a few times by a random provider that just worked well enough for streaming and browsing abroad. Ever had a hidden gem that actually outperformed the big guys?

just my 2 cents, I used a small VPN once for travel and got surprisingly decent speeds but I still stick with the big guys for peace of mind. kinda feel like the hype around Nord and Express is for good reason tho

Honestly I think most of the hype around big VPNs is just cuz they market heavy, not always because they deliver better speeds or security. I've used some smaller ones that worked just fine for streaming and browsing abroad. People just stuck on the brand names because they assume bigger = better, but that's not always true.

careful with just trusting the hype tho, do VPNs really keep u safe from all kinda snooping or just hide ur IP? sometimes it feels like a shiny toy that might not do much in the end.

last month i tried a vpn for a trip and honestly it felt like more hassle than it was worth, lol. just a shiny toy sometimes, ngl.

if ur just after privacy, make sure u pick a legit vpn, not some free one. but still, can u really trust any vpn 100%? feels kinda sketch sometimes lmao

yo careful with writing off VPNs as just shiny toys, tho. Yeah, they got their limits, but if u pick a legit provider, they can be pretty decent for privacy and accessing geo-restricted stuff. Not perfect, but not completely useless either. Just gotta know what u want from it.

lol same, but honestly, for travel and content access, i'd go with windscribe. decent speeds, no logs, and they got a free tier so u can test it out. anyone else tried it?

yo do u think the hype about VPNs is still real tho? like, i read some data that 75% of VPNs keep logs but only 30% actually tell u. imho, u gotta pick legit ones with no logs, or it kinda defeats the purpose. mgr

not really, u gotta do ur homework. plenty of cheap ones still log and sell ur data. pick a legit no-log VPN or forget it
