Using proxies for SEO tools scraping Google - what actually works in 2025?

so im using ahrefs and semrush every day but sometimes you gotta get your own data straight from google right? ive tried a couple resi proxy providers for scraping serps but either get blocked after like 100 queries or the speed sucks. tried rotating datacenter ips with python requests and user-agent changes but google still catches on eventually. anyone got a real setup that doesnt get your main server ip banned? heard isp proxies might be the middle ground but they cost almost as much as mobile proxies. whats a realistic req per minute you can do before getting flagged these days? fwiw my last test with a backconnect residential pool gave me like 120 successful scrapes then captcha hell.

spot on. google's defenses are getting tighter, especially with residential proxies. afaik, mobile proxies are still king but cost a lot

i think you might be underestimating how muuuch google is actually watching for scraping. 120 requests before captcha hell? That's actually pretty decent atm.

nah, imo 120 is pretty low tbh. google's gotten way smarter, i think even that's a lucky day. kinda think we need to push beyond that if we wanna do serious scraping lol.

ngl thanks for the feedback, really helps to see where everyone's at. yeah, google's defenses are definitely tighter, especially on residentials, but mobile proxies do seem like the way to go if you can stomach the cost. 120 req/min is kinda baseline now, but I guess pushing higher = more risk. gonna keep testing, maybe try some smarter throttling or delay tactics. keep those tips coming, peeps. stay sharp.

Last month I got burnt bad trying to scrape Google with some cheap proxies, got my IPs banned within hours. Seems like in 2025, residential proxies from providers like Bright Data or Smartproxy are still the only way to go ymmv. Rotating every few requests and adding delays helps a lot.

70% of proxies still get flagged if you overuse them, so rotating residential proxies from legit providers are kinda the only safe bet in 2025.

Been doing this 3 years and honestly, trying to scrape Google with anything but legit residential proxies is just asking for trouble. Cheap proxies are useless, they get flagged quick. Use real residential proxies from trusted providers and rotate like hell.

Just my 2 cents, I tried using Bright Data last month and got my IPs flagged after like 10 queries. Sometimes even legit proxies don't cut it if you go too aggressive. Anyone got a magic trick or just accept you gotta keep it ultra-low and switch often?

just my 2 cents, but even legit residential proxies ain't foolproof if you're not super careful with query rates and timing, especially on high-volume days.

Careful with the idea that residential proxies are the only waaay to go. I've seen some setups using datacenter proxies with smart rotation and low query rates still get pretty decent results without blowing up the IPs. It's all about how you manage the traffic and not just what proxies you use.

I once thought residential proxies were the holy grail but got flagged even with low query rates after a few days. Ended up swapping to a mix of datacenter proxies and went smoother, no flags so far. ymmv but that was my experience in 2025.

yep exactly, ive seen residential proxies get flagged faster than datacenter ones in 2025, especially when u go over 50 queries per minute, so mixing them with smart rotation is the way to go if u wanna avoid bans.

lol, yeah, I tried that too, thought I cracked the code. then I got flagged using datacenter proxies on a slow day. guess nothing's foolproof in 2025, huh?

careful with calling it "scraping Google" in 2025, it's more like "browsing" now. proxies gotta be really smart or u get flagged fast. no magic tricks anymore.

ngl yeah but what does "really smart" even mean now? like, are we talking about fresh residentials with rotation, or some super advanced AI-powered proxy farms? cuz honestly, i feel like if google's getting smarter every year, our proxies gotta evolve faster too. anyone actually cracked some new legit combo that just works w/o needing to constantly tweak?
