Alright so a while back I mentioned I was going to try that whole 'speed dating' method for getting into top-tier networks you know the one everyone recommends where you polish your media kit and present yourself as a serious media buyer with a fancy deck I figured hey maybe things have changed maybe it's not just about who you know anymore so I spent two weeks crafting this beautiful presentation fake it till you make it right showed clean verticals mock traffic stats from a test campaign the whole nine yards and you know what happened I got four approvals out of fifteen applications sounds okay until you look closer three of those four were basically just reskinned versions of the same old CPA network with the same offers I could get anywhere and the fourth one the one that looked legit sent me their welcome packet and their premium offers had payouts that were maybe 5% higher than what I see on my Tier 2 networks but their payment terms were net-45 with a $1000 minimum and their tracking links looked like they were built in 2012 it's not that simple my friend the real top-tier clubs they're not looking at your PowerPoint they're looking for a consistent six-figure monthly spend already on their books or a personal intro from someone they trust I'm feeling pretty nostalgic about the old affiliate forums where you could actually get a direct AM contact from a real recommendation instead of this corporate front door that just leads to a broom closet full of repackaged offers makes me wonder if all that advice about professional pitches is just a way to make new affiliates jump through hoops for nothing
