trying to find cheap datacenter proxies that are actually usable

so i've been testing a bunch of cheap datacenter proxies for scraping and the detection rate is stupid high. used one of those.50 per GB providers, got like a 95% block rate on medium-security sites (cloudflare challenges after maybe 20 requests). tried rotating every request but they still flagged the subnet lol. switched to a mid-tier provider that's about $3/gb and my success rate jumped to like 70% for general ecomm scraping (still need good anti-detect tho). anyone found a sweet spot where the price isn't insane but they actually work? feels like under $2/gb you're just paying for IPs that get insta-banned.

last month i was messing around with some $1/gb proxies and had basically the same experience, got high block rates fast. then i switched to a slightly pricier provider around $2.50 and honestly, the difference was crazy. seems like the cheaper ones are just garbage, even if they're tempting on price.

Different angle: sometimes those mid-tier proxies work better not because they're more expensive but because they're cleaner or more stable, especially if you're hitting a lot of sites. the cheaper ones might have a lot of recycled IPs or bad pools that get banned quick. maybe spend a bit more for quality and rotate smarter instead of just going cheaper and hoping it sticks. ymmv but it's often about the quality of the IPs not

been doing this 7 years, and I noticed sometimes rotating the user-agent helps a lot more than just IP. you ever tried using a mix of proxies with different user-agents? seems to trick some basic detection better than just rotating IPs alone

Are you sure cheap proxies are ever really worth it, or do you think the cost just masks how trash they actually are?

ngl different angle: maybe try combining cheap proxies with residential ones for key steps, keeps the cost down but improves success. If you can set up a small pool of residential IPs just for the toughest parts, it might help you avoid blocks w/o breaking the bank. Have you thought about blending proxies based on target security level?

ok so you wanna save cash or get decent uptime? Cheap datacenter proxies are usually trash, smh. You gotta pay more if you wanna actually work.

80% of cheap proxies are dead or banned within a day, ever noticed that? are you testing a lot or just one niche?

You can try those $5 for 100 proxies deals but trust me, they die faster than my patience during a capcha hell. I wasted days testing low-cost proxies only to get banned or throttled hard. ymmv, but imo, sometimes you gotta pay more or waste your time.

thanks for the tips guys, yeah i kinda figured cheap proxies are trash most of the time but wanted to see if anyone found a decent cheap source that's not dead in a day. i mostly test in one niche so maybe that's why i keep getting banned but yeah, better to pay more for stability or keep testing a lot.

different angle: maybe try smaller or newer providers, sometimes they have cheaper options that are still decent, just test a few to see which ones hold up.

Careful with the assumption that cheap proxies are actually usable. From my experience, the cheaper ones tend to be overused or flagged quick. Testing a few small providers might seem like a good idea but often ends up wasting more time fixing issues than saving. Usually, you get what you pay for.

yep exactly, but also. don't get too caught up in the cheap hype. sometimes the ones that seem dirt cheap are trash or worse, flagged from day one.

Been doing this 3 years rn and honestly, I saw a lot of people jump into the cheap proxy game thinking it's a win but end up wasting money. OP, u gotta get that straight, cheap proxies often = trash or flagged quick. If u actually want usable proxies, spend a little more or test small providers but don't buy into the cheap hype thinking u get a steal.

Been doing this 3 years and honestly I got some cheap proxies that worked fine for a while, not all are trash. Maybe it's about knowing which ones to test and not just going for the cheapest, ya know? Sometimes you get what you pay for but not always.

"trying to find cheap datacenter proxies that are actually usable" my tip: don't just test proxies randomly, build a small whitelist of providers with verified uptime and focus on rotating IP pools. better chance some stay alive longer and are less flagged.
