SOCKS5 vs HTTP: When to pick which? Need fast answer

man I'm losing it here. Just wanna get straight to the point. Everyone's arguing about SOCKS5 and HTTP proxies but it's like they're speaking different languages. I just need a quick yes or no. Price wise SOCKS5 is usually more expensive but supposedly more flexible, right? But then HTTP proxies are cheaper and supposedly easier to set up, but how's the quality? When do I actually pick SOCKS5 over HTTP? Is it only if I'm doing something like p2p or complex stuff or can I use HTTP for pretty much everything if I don't care about super stealth? Honestly I don't wanna waste my money on SOCKS5 if I don't need it but also don't wanna get caught or slow down my scraping. I'm in a rush to get this done. Someone just give me the quick breakdown, I don't care about the fancy explanations anymore. Just tell me what works for what and when I should spend extra. Thanks.

different angle: if you're just scraping and not doing super stealthy stuff, HTTP is usually enough and way cheaper. SOCKS5 shines when you need more flexibility, like P2P or protocols that HTTP proxies choke on. you wanna avoid wasting cash on SOCKS5 if HTTP does the job for your use case. why are you worried about speed and stealth? what kinda scraping are you doing?

last month i spent a bunch on socks5 thinking it was gonna make me faster but for simple scraping HTTP was fine and way cheaper, so yeah, only use socks5 if you got specific needs like p2p or complex protocols.

Yeah exactly, I wasted some money on SOCKS5 last month thinking it'd boost my speed but for just scraping HTTP does the job fine and costs less. Only go SOCKS5 if you got some kinda special setup or need that HTTP can't handle.

Dude, I think HTTP proxies can work for most stuff if you tweak the headers and keep it low-key. SOCKS5 is just overkill unless you're doing something heavy like P2P or need max stealth, ngl. Don't waste extra cash if HTTP fits your needs, bruh

careful with thinking SOCKS5 is always overkill, tho. had a client swearing HTTP was fine for everything till they hit massive blocks and slowdowns. sometimes SOCKS5 saved my ass with faster speeds and better stealth, especially on bulk stuff. so yeah, maybe it's not always necessary but don't sleep on it just yet. different setups, different needs.

Honestly, I used HTTP proxies for simple scraping for months without issues but then got slowed down by blocks and captcha. Switched to SOCKS5 and everything got smoother, faster. Guess it depends on ur target and scale.

Disagree, ymmv fr but I've had way more success with HTTP for most quick scraping projects. SOCKS5 can be better for P2P or stuff needing low latency, but don't sleep on HTTP. I've seen way less issues

just my 2 cents, SOCKS5 is worth the extra if you need better speed and lower latency for complex tasks like P2P or heavy scraping, but for basic stuff HTTP can do the job if you don't mind potential blocks or slower speeds.

Been doing this 3 years and honestly SOCKS5's usually 20-30% faster than HTTP in real-world testing, especially on heavy loads, but it costs more for a reason.

Been doing this 3 years, SOCKS5 is faster and more flexible for complex stuff, HTTP is simpler and might be better for quick tasks or less risky. Pick SOCKS5 if you need speed and control, HTTP if you want ease and less setup. No-brainer sometimes but yeah, depends on your needs.

sock5 is usually 2-3x faster in most tests, especially with bigger data streams, but HTTP can be more stable for simple tasks. if speed is key, go sock5, but for lightweight stuff HTTP might be enough and easier to setup.

85% of the time I test sock5 is way faster, like 2.5x in some cases, especially with larger chunks of data. HTTP is more stable but fr, sock5 usually wins on speed. Just remember, if your server's a potato, it might not matter.

Most ppl swear sock5 is faster but don't forget HTTP can be more reliable in some cases especially if you deal with flaky networks or need better compatibility. Speed is cool but stability can save your ass more often. ymmv but don't sleep on HTTP just coz sock5 looks sexy
