SOCKS5 vs HTTP proxies - when to use which

Just stumbled on something I swear by now. SOCKS5 is a beast for fast lightweight scraping, no headers, no fuss. Perfect for when you just want raw speed and don't care about browser fingerprints. But man, HTTP proxies are my go-to for stealthy ops, especially when I gotta mimic real user behavior, headers, cookies and all that. Feels like I was blind before. If you wanna dodge detection and keep things legit, HTTP is your buddy. SOCKS5 for speed, HTTP for anti-detect. Anyone else got battle stories?

story time i burned a whole ad account trying to run SOCKS5 for stealth thinking it was the same as HTTP turned out nope SOCKS5 is like running naked through a snowstorm quick but no protection HTTP is your stealth ninja but man sometimes you just gotta decide if you want speed or to dodge the cops

haha yeah I feel you sock5 is all about that raw speed but if you don't set it up right or don't use headers and cookies it's basically just a free ticket to get caught or burn an account fast track it or lack it that's why I always say if you want stealth HTTP is king but gotta do it right with headers, fingerprints, and legit cookies otherwise you're just a target sock5 is like running naked through a snowstorm no protection but sometimes you need that speed and yeah you gotta pick your battles or get burned.

lol ok but you ever tested combining them? sock5 for the raw speed and then switch to http when you gotta look legit? sometimes mixing and matching gives me better epc.

depends on the niche but afaik SOCKS5 is better for stuff needing less restriction and faster speeds, HTTP proxies are more common for basic scraping or just browsing. smh if you mix them up you'll get issues.

bro you're missing the point the numbers don't lie SOCKS5 is like the race car of proxies it's faster smoother less restrictions and perfect for high speed ad spamming or black hat maneuvers HTTP proxies are more like the family sedan good for scraping boring stuff but if you want to scale and not get throttled SOCKS5 is the way to go the problem is most noobs stick with HTTP cause they think it's easier but they don't see the big picture when you're pushing for that 10k a day scale SOCKS5 turns you into a monster if you know how to tame it.

hot take incoming: everyone talking about SOCKS5 being the race car misses the point. it's not about speed alone, it's about what you're doing. SOCKS5 is a good fit for stuff where you need minimal restrictions, like high-speed ad campaigns or black hat LARPing. but if you just need to scrape a website or do simple stuff, HTTP proxies are still fine and way easier to manage. people get caught up in the shiny toys instead of the actual use case. it's about knowing your lane and not wasting time chasing unicorns. SOCKS5 ain't always the answer, just like a family sedan ain't always bad. you choose based on the job not the hype. source: seen too many guys blow money on SOCKS5 thinking it's a magic bullet when all they needed was a basic proxy. stay focused.

but are you really maximizing SOCKS5 if your cr on those high-speed campaigns is still trash? speed and restrictions are one thing but if your epc on those campaigns sucks because of crappy creatives or landing pages, what's the point? better double check your creative game before blaming proxies

Let me compromise SOCKS5 is better for tasks needing more anonymity and flexibility like scraping or botting while HTTP proxies are usually faster for browsing and data fetching. Just remember SOCKS5 can handle a wider range of protocols but might be a bit slower and more expensive. Show me your use case after a week and we can find a middle ground.

SOCKS5 is your go-to when you need more anonymity and protocol flexibility. HTTP proxies are better if speed and easy browsing are your priority. BUT if you get burned by slow proxies, remember the middle ground might be a mix depending on the task

phantom, u got it kinda backwards, SOCKS5 is faster but less anonymous, HTTP proxies are slower but kinda safer. if ur CTR is already cranking, maybe try SOCKS5 for scraping but don't forget daily optimization or u get rekt.

Been there. SOCKS5 works better for anything needing protocol flexibility like scraping or botting but can slow down CVR if your LP is sensitive. HTTP proxies are faster but less flexible. Track everything, 'literally' everything. If your CVR drops post-iOS updates, check your delay, your landing pages, and your proxy type.

Disagree on SOCKS5 being always better for anonymity. Got stats showing HTTP proxies can match SOCKS5 for certain use cases. It's about the protocol and target, not just the label. Speed and ease often trump protocol flexibility. Prove it.

sock5 good for stealth but slower, http faster but easier to get flagged. depends on the cr, test it yourself.
