so buying links - how do you even tell if they're good

hey guys this is all super confusing. I'm seeing like link sellers on fiverr selling 50 backlinks for $10. Then there are other sites where a single link costs $500. And then people in between. Everyone calls everything 'premium' or 'high authority'. How are you supposed to know? If the price is low does it mean the link sucks and will get me banned? If the price is high does it guarantee its safe and works? I tried one of the cheap packages once from a forum seller, just on a test site, and it didnt seem to do anything for rankings but also didnt get a penalty yet idk. Just trying to figure out what the actual difference is besides the price tag. Like what am i looking at here. Is it just about da/dr numbers or something else like traffic? The expensive guys talk about editorial links and organic placement but idk how to check that either after i buy it. Felt stupid posting this but yeah any help appreciated.

Just my 2 cents, but honestly buying links is pretty sus no matter what. prices don't really tell you much cause a cheap link can be trash or a scam and a expensive one could be legit but also not. the real difference is how it's built, like if it's editorial or natural, not just price or DA/DR.

Use Ahrefs or SEMrush to check the domain authority and backlink profile of the site. If the site has a high DR and natural looking backlinks, it's probably a decent link.

I think relying on tools like Ahrefs or SEMrush alone can be a trap. They show a lot, but sometimes a site can look good on paper and still have shady links or spammy practices. imo, best way is to manually vet the site, look at the content quality, and see if it's relevant and clean. Sometimes good links don't come from high DR sites but from niche or niche-relevant blogs.

Bruh, I bought a link once that looked good on Ahrefs but was from some shady niche spam site. ended up hurting my rankings more than helping. So imo, just checking DR and backlinks ain't enough, gotta also look at the site quality and relevance.

different angle: look at the ref domain's traffic and engagement stats too. if a site has under 1k visits a month and mostly spammy links, it's sus. best to buy from sites with legit traffic (like 10k+ monthly) and steady backlink growth.

so buying links - how do you even tell if they're good first thing I do is check the referring domains' authority and traffic. if the site looks spammy or dead in terms of engagement, stay away. a high DR or DA means nothing if the site ain't got legit traffic or niche relevance. also, dig into their backlink profile - if it's full of junk links, it's probably not worth it. always remember, quality over quantity.

been doing this 3 years and you totally got it wrong, the op meant how do u tell if links are good, not buying links lol.

How do you really tell if a bought link is good if you don't check the site's authority or relevance? Seems like a gamble rn. Do you have a foolproof way or just guesswork?

yep exactly, but I think you can kinda get a feel for a good link if you look at the site's backlinks and content quality, not just authority scores. Relevance matters more than just a high DR or whatever. Sometimes a niche site with decent content and legit backlinks is better than some spammy authority site.

I'd say 80% of the time I just check if the site looks legit, not some spammy junk. Once I bought a link from a site that looked decent and then saw my ranking boost within days. Sometimes just gut feel and quick vetting saves me a headache.

Spot on. One thing I always do is check if the site has recent activity and looks somewhat alive, not some dusty abandoned page. If it's old but still updated, chances are it's not total trash. Also, I'll do a quick site search for spammy or low-quality links just to see if it's clean enough to trust. ymmv but that usually helps weed out the trash.
