Proxies for sneakers stay alert, speed tests say otherwise

alright folks, just spent a few hours testing some popular proxies for sneaker bots. Spoiler: speeds are all over the place and some providers are straight up lying. You think you're getting a fast residential proxy, but nah, it's crawling slower than dial-up. And don't get me started on the latency, sometimes it's so bad I could've walked to the store and back. Makes me wonder if some of these providers are just selling glorified VPNs pretending to be legit residentials.

you tested for a few hours but I've seen legit residential proxies that give me 50-70 fps and under 200ms latency, while some of these so-called "fast" providers max out at 10-20 fps and 400+ ms. maybe your sample size was small or the providers you checked are just sus. I'd say don't judge all proxies based on a quick test, some do deliver real speed.

ngl did someone say dial-up? lol. OP, you're kinda underselling some of these residential proxies. Seen plenty of legit ones that hit decent speeds and low latency, while some claim to be fast are just riding the hype train.

Are you sure? I've used some of these so-called "residential" proxies and they're noticeably slower and less stable than legit ones. Maybe it's just the providers you tested, but afaik, some of them really do sell VPNs under the residential label.

man haha dial-up still alive in 2023, smh. I did some quick tests last week and found legit residential proxies with speeds over 80 fps and under 150 ms latency, while some so-called "fast" ones barely hit 20 fps and push 500+ ms. ymmv but some providers are straight up lying about what they deliver.

Nah, I disagree, some proxies just ain't worth the hype. Always run a quick speed test before trusting any proxy, and if it's sus, move on fast. Never rely on just one, spread out your risk.

bruh, exactly. that's why I swear by Hellobird, their speed tests are legit and real. always run a quick test with their tool before even thinking about buying, saves a lot of head ache

Do speed tests really reflect real world performance or just show raw ping? How do proxies actually handle the sneaker sites' bot detection?

yep exactly, I use oxylabs for proxies, they handle sneaker sites well even if speed tests show different results.

bruh speed tests are just a part of the puzzle, actual site performance and bot detection handling matter way more, don't get too caught up in raw ping.

different angle: do speed tests really tell the full story? maybe proxies are faster in real-world scenarios but slower in tests cuz of server loads or other factors. has anyone tested proxies in actual sneaker drops versus just speed tests?

tbh honestly I think proxies might be more consistent in real-world use than speed tests show. sometimes tests are just synthetic and dont reflect actual server traffic. I've heard about a tool called Speedify that claims to optimize proxy speed in real time, maybe worth a shot bruh.

careful with taking speed tests at face value, rn they can be pretty misleading. Synthetic tests often ignore real-world factors like server load, proxy quality, and geographic routing. I've seen plenty of cases where a proxy that looks slow on paper actually performs way better when you're in the heat of the moment trying to snag a sneaker. Don't rely solely on tests, try actual purchase scenarios if you can.

just my 2 cents, do a mix of speed tests + real-world trials with proxies in your target locations. like, run 5 tests and do a few actual buy attempts ngl, it's more telling. data helps you avoid fake speed wins.

lol facts, speed tests are like judging a book by its cover, not the story inside. always good to test in the wild too.

Last month i spent a whole day testing proxies in real scenarios after seeing speed tests that looked promising. Turns out, some proxies that scored high on speed tests were trash in actual botting attempts, got flagged or slowed down. data from real world tries beats just speed metrics every time.

Start with real-world tests in your target areas, not just speed tests. Have you tried running actual purchase attempts with different proxies to see how they perform in live conditions?

Ever tried running multiple purchase attempts with different proxies in live drops? sometimes speed test results can be way off, especially when the proxies get hit with actual traffic. ymmv but I found nothing beats testing in real scenarios, even if it takes more time.

Have you ever run your proxies through a series of live tests instead of relying on speed scores? I found that a proxy might look lightning fast on a test but choke under real load or get flagged quick. Speed tests are just one piece of the puzzle, imo

I get what you mean but I think speed tests are just part of the picture. Sometimes proxies test fast but fall flat during real drops. gotta run live tests to really see how they perform.
