ProtonVPN free tier, is it really worth it or just limited hype?

So I posted about VPNs before and I remember mentioning ProtonVPN once cause I was curious about their free tier. Now I'm kinda stuck cause I've been messing around with it and wondering if it's actually good for privacy or just a way to get you in the door. Like yeah the free plan gives you access to some servers, no logs, but speeds are pretty meh and I'm not sure if it's enough for streaming or torrenting without hitting limits. I get that free is usually limited but I'm also worried about what data they might still collect or if they're just holding back on features to push paid plans. Ngl, I don't wanna drop cash if it's gonna be more gimmick than actual privacy booster. Anyone here tried the free tier long enough to know if it's decent or just a waste of time? Honestly, I'm thinking about just going paid but the whole point of free is to test if it's worth the upgrade right?

different angle: sometimes the free tier is just a bait to get you used to their ecosystem. I used ProtonVPN free for a couple of weeks, and yeah speeds were meh, but no logs and decent security. I ended up upgrading cause I wanted streaming and torrenting without limits, but for just casual browsing it's not bad as a starting

Last month I dabbled with ProtonVPN free, thought I'd finally test the waters before dropping cash, but honestly it felt more like a tease than a legit privacy boost speeds were dog slow and I was worried about what

just my 2 cents, i think proton free is kinda decent for privacy if u dont need crazy speeds or streaming but for actual torrenting or heavy use it's kinda meh. i had a different experience, speeds were okay for just browsing and basic stuff, and no logs is a plus. so depends what u want, it's not all hype but ain't a full privacy shield either.

bruh you said "no logs" but afaik protonvpn keeps some connection logs for like 30 days or smth. better check that before trusting the hype fully.

just my 2 cents, if you wanna test stuff without dropping cash proton free can kinda do the job but yeah it's not perfect for heavy stuff like streaming or torrents and the logs thing always kinda bugs me too. sometimes free's just a tease, better to test paid if you serious about privacy and speed. smh at the hype around free VPNs tho.

Thanks for the insights, guys. Yeah I figured the free tier is more like a teaser, especially with the slow speeds, but it's kinda reassuring that no logs are kept. Might just stick to it for casual browsing and avoid heavy streaming or torrents unless I wanna pay up. Appreciate the tips, keep 'em coming if you've got more experience!
