Outsourcing Affiliate Teams Nostalgia for the Old Days of Numbers

Ugh need to vent. Remember when you just found a couple solid dudes for an affiliate team and trusted them with the numbers? Felt so simple back then. Now its a total circus. Tried outsourcing traffic stuff last year, figured I could scale w/o going insane. Hired 3 guys, paid per lead, seemed fine. First month hits 30k rev, I'm pumped. Next month it tanks to 15k out of nowhere. Turns out they had zero clue about our niche, just doing random generic crap. No tracking no communication just throwing ads up and praying tbh. Worst part was I spent more time babysitting than if I did it all myself - numbers don't lie man. Now I'm back doing like 90% of it solo and lowkey miss the old days where I'd open a spreadsheet see what worked and tweak a few things. Outsourcing sounds cool but its such a gamble imo. Unless you've got a proven crew that actually hits KPIs consistently dont even bother feels like trying to build a hacker team with rookies - just wasted cash and stress anyone else feel this or am i just too old school to let someone else touch my numbers?

just my 2 cents, been there done that. one thing that helped me a lot was setting very clear KPIs and having regular check-ins, even if its just quick chats or screen shares. that way you keep some control and avoid letting randoms run wild. trust but verify, ya know?

Last month I thought I'd try outsourcing some traffic, figured I'd get scale and maybe save time. Ended up with a disaster, same story, randoms with no niche knowledge, total chaos. But I learned to at least set strict KPIs and do quick daily check-ins, keeps them somewhat honest. Still, honestly, if you wanna keep control, just do it yourself or hire legit pros with a proven track record.

Careful with that, I tried it too, thought I'd get big scale fast but ended up babysitting and wasting more time than just running it myself. scales slow but at least I control the ship.

Yeah man, been doing this 9 years now and I've learned that setting up a solid onboarding process helps. Like, create a detailed SOP and run a quick test campaign with clear KPIs before scaling. YMMV but it saves a ton of headache and keeps everyone aligned from the jump.

Always do a quick pilot with any outsourcing before full scale, I remember back in the day I hired some guys and gave em a small test campaign just to see if they knew what they were doin, saved me from losing a ton of cash

Disagree a bit, rn I think outsourcing can work if you really know what KPIs you want and vet the team tight. I've seen guys run legit setups with a small crew of remote pros but you gotta be on top of the process. Sure, can turn into a circus fast but if you got the systems right, it's not all bad. Just gotta be picky.

haha yeah, the few legit setups I saw had like 3-4 guys max and constant KPI checks. YMMV but unless you got the time to micromanage, it's risky as hell.

87% of affiliates say they saw better ROI back in the day with smaller teams. Do you think scaling up now kills that personal touch or can you keep the vibe?

been doing this 3 years, and honestly, using Slack integrations with automations for task tracking and updates saved my team from falling into chaos. keeps everyone in the loop w/o killing the personal vibe. try it.

lol one time I outsourced a team and somehow they all ghosted right before a big push, had to scramble lol. never again lowkey
