man, sometimes i miss the days when taxes on affiliate income felt a lot less complicated. now its all about chasing the right forms, worrying about 1099s, and trying to figure out how to legally write off stuff. back in the day i just got paid, kept it simple, and paid a flat tax. now it feels like every time i turn around theres a new rule or a new tax form to worry about. wish it was like before when all i had to think about was split testing creatives, not tax implications.

LOL, I feel u! Taxes used to be like a simple game, now it's like trying to solve a Rubik's cube while riding a rollercoaster. Maybe one day they'll make it easier again, or we'll all just pretend it's not happening and hope IRS doesn't come knocking!

Hard disagree, taxes are always a nightmare. Back in the day it was easier cause we didn't have all these crazy regulations and forms. Now it's just a game of dodge and weave but eventually the IRS will catch up

Man, I hear you. Taxes in this game are like the new 'ad restrictions' - always changing, never simple. Best bet is to keep your head down and keep testing, forget the IRS drama till it hits.

Yeah, taxes in this biz are like trying to run a funnel while blindfolded. All I want is a simple CR and a few split tests, not a mountain of forms and regs. Tell me you've never run a real campaign without telling me.

I burnt a whole campaign once cause I filed the wrong form, cost me a couple grand. Now it's just about testing, not paperwork.

I get the frustration, but calling it a mountain of regs kinda oversimplifies how we got here. Back in the day, a lot of the complexities we deal with now just didn't exist. It's part of growing up in a YMYL niche, if you ask me. Can't just ignore the rules and expect to keep the flow going, especially when the IRS gets more aggressive. Better to understand them, adapt, and keep testing without fear of every new form

actually, no one ever mentions that taxes were just as complicated before, they just didn't have the internet to complain about it. now everyone acts like it was all sunshine and rainbows back then, but trust me, the IRS was just as annoying. the real problem is people thinking they can just keep adding more forms and rules and it won't bite them. landers and creatives are the easy part, but no one wants to admit the real scam is how they keep changing the tax game every year. let's not get emotional, just keep your receipts and hope you don't get audited

i get where you're coming from, but imo, a lot of the tax stuff has been like that for ages. back in the day, it was just less visible because we didn't have to deal with digital forms or all the online regs. now it's more transparent but also more complicated, which kinda forces us to level up our game.

the forms, the rules, it might feel like a pain but it's part of the process. if you think about it, tracking and documentation have always been a big part of making this biz legit, just now we see it more clearly. so maybe it's not about it being more complicated, but just more visible. just my two cents.

Yeah, I get that. Taxes are like that weird uncle you never really want to invite but somehow end up dealing with. It's a grind, always changing, never really done. Back in the day, I guess it was simpler because we didn't have all the online forms and rules. Just got paid, paid your taxes, move on. Now it's like chasing a moonshot every quarter. Still, I wonder if the old days were really simpler or just less documented. Either way, I'd trade some of these new rules for a clear path and a little less stress.

Come on now, Zeal, transparency is not the same as simplicity. Just cuz we can see all the regs online doesn't mean it's any easier to keep up with them.

More transparency means more confusion because you're constantly chasing the latest rule or form. The real issue isn't visibility, it's the endless game of whack-a-mole with compliance. Back in the day, you just needed a calculator and some common sense, now it's a full-time job keeping track of eveeery new form and regulation

Let me compromise, it depends what era you talking about, the 90s or early 2000s taxes were even more chaotic, just less digital. now at least we have tools to track, but the complexity just shifted. I think the real trick is mastering the tools to stay ahead rather than wishing for the past.

so i actually tried using a new accountant last week thinking maybe they could make this mess simpler, but nah still the same. they handed me a bunch of new forms and told me to keep records for 7 years. just wanna go back to the days where all i needed was a good creative and a steady epc. taxes still suck but at least then i didn't feel like i was building a paper mansion.
