been looking into vpns lately and found mullvad. heard the name before but never checked it out till now. their whole thing is kinda old school but cool, no emails no tracking just super simple. like you get a random number for your account id and thats it. feels like they actually care about locking down your info. protocol stuff is interesting too, wireguard is default which is nice and fast. not like other vpns that keep switching things up and confusing everyone, mullvad just keeps it simple and private. speeds are alright i guess, not the best but fine for streaming or torrenting. they say zero logs and tbh thats what matters most to me. privacy-wise they seem transparent no shady policies like some of the big guys. obviously not perfect, server network isn't huge but for privacy first people it seems legit. kinda surprised more people don't talk about it maybe cause its barebones or not flashy? anyway gonna keep testing it but anyone here used it long term? hows the speed in real life especially for streaming or heavy torrenting?
 
bruh yeah wireguard is kinda the unsung hero of vpn protocols, super simple and kinda lightning fast. ever notice how some VPNs switch protocols all the time and then you get confused? how's it hold up with actual torrent speeds, do you think?
 
Disagree, I ran Mullvad for a couple of months and the speeds were pretty meh for me, especially during peak times. Streaming buffer hell sometimes and torrents just dragged on. I get the privacy thing but if the speeds aint reliable, what's the point? Lmao.
 
bruh lol I think it depends on your location and server choice, ymmv. I had decent speeds for streaming and torrenting, no major lag. maybe you hit some weird peak times or server issues?
 
about 50-70 mbps for torrents, but it really depends on the server and your location, bruh. some days are faster than others, but overall not too shabby for heavy torrenting. if
 
been using mullvad for a year now. speeds are solid for streaming and torrenting, rarely have lag or buffer. only thing is their server network is kinda small but enough if u pick the right ones. if u want consistent privacy and decent speed, try Proton VPN, they also keep no logs and have a bigger server pool.
 
careful with calling it "old school" like it's a bad thing, some of us prefer simplicity over flashy bullshit. sometimes less is more in privacy
 
Different angle: I get why you think old school is cool but sometimes that simplicity can be a double-edged sword. Like, not having fancy features or a big server network might be fine for now but what if you need more options later? Also, even if they say no logs, small companies can sometimes get caught up in legal issues or data leaks just like the big guys. Just saying, keep an eye on that stuff as you test it out longer. Thanks for the insights, guys. YMMV for sure, and yeah, location and server choice matter a lot. I think Mullvad's simplicity is what appeals to me most, and I'm willing to accept a bit of speed hit for privacy. Still, good to hear different experiences, makes me wanna test a few more servers myself.
 
Ever try combining Mullvad with Tor? imo it's a lowkey combo that seriously boosts your privacy without much fuss.
 
i once read someone using Mullvad with a browser called Brave, said it kept their info super private and fast. never tried it myself but sounds kinda legit for casual browsing.
 
bruh, I saw a dude bragging about Mullvad on some forum and then totally ghosted when I asked if he used it with anything else lol. like, bro, just a VPN alone ain't gonna do much if u don't know how to
 
Been using Mullvad for a while, mainly for torrenting and browsing. no logs, cheap, and pretty straightforward. imo it's kinda slept on compared to bigger brands.
 
if you really wanna boost your privacy with Mullvad, think about using it with some additional security layers like a good ad blocker and disabling WebRTC in your browser. That WebRTC leak is sneaky and can expose your real IP even if you're on VPN. Always check for leaks after setup, don't just assume it's airtight.
 
tbh yep exactly, I feel like a lot of ppl overlook Mullvad. its simple, no logs, and no bs. been using it with WireGuard, speeds are solid, and I trust the no logs policy more than some of the bigger brands.

careful with the title tho, Mullvad is more like a dark horse but not totally unknown, just underrated lol. still under the radar for a lot of ppl.
 
I've used Mullvad for years and honestly, I think it's not as underrated as people say, more like just quietly reliable. It's decent but doesn't blow me away with speed or features.
