Media buying basics, someone explain like I'm still figuring out my tracker

alright so the whole media buying thing popped up everywhere on my feed and now I'm stuck between just running push on PropellerAds forever or trying to figure out Facebook ads which seems like a whole different planet where you need actual creative skills not just slapping together a dodgy LP with a fake countdown timer. My question is where do you even start without burning your entire budget on learning what a pixel is? I see people talking about TikTok but that feels like trying to sell crypto mining software to teenagers who just want to dance.

Honestly, I think people sleep on Facebook ads too much. Yeah, it looks intimidating at first but imo it's still the most scalable platform if u know what ur doing. Push on PropellerAds is okay for quick tests and low budget stuff but if ur serious about growth and understanding the game, u gotta get comfortable with pixels, audiences, and creative testing. It's not about being a graphic designer, it's about understanding what makes people click. TikTok? Sure, it's hot now but if u look at the data, Facebook still drives a lot of high-converting traffic for certain niches. U don't need to burn ur entire budget to learn what a pixel is - just get a cheap course, or even better, watch some free tutorials and run small tests. The key is consistency. U won't learn if u keep bouncing around platforms thinking one is a silver bullet. U gotta master one first, then expand. Otherwise, u'll keep spinning ur wheels. If u ask me, mastering Facebook ads is a long-term play, not just another quick traffic hack.

Alright, I gotta say.. if you're still thinking of sticking to PropellerAds forever just for the ease, you're bleeding cash if you don't diversify. Push is fine for quick tests but it's like playing with one hand tied behind your back. Facebook ads are a different beast, yeah, but ignoring the pixel and creatives is just shooting yourself in the foot. You wanna scale, you gotta learn the pixel, the targeting, how to make creatives that actually convert... it's the juice that makes your campaigns profitable. TikTok? Yeah, it's like dancing with a bull, but it's also where the money's hiding if you know how to pixel it right and work those trends.

Yeah, it looks intimidating at first but imo
yeah, it looks intimidating but thats the part most people never get past. if you think you need "skills" to run facebook, you're already behind. i ran a campaign last month, 2.3x roi with just basic pixel setup, no fancy creative. the trick is testing and optimizing, not overthinking the tech. push can be quick but it hits a wall fast, if you want scale you gotta learn the platform.

lol, you're still worried about burning your entire budget learning pixels? trust me, the biggest mistake is not just starting. once you get your head around how the pixel works, it's just another data point, not some black magic. and yeah, Facebook looks scary at first but it's not rocket science, it's just trial and error, like everything else in this game. you don't need fancy creatives, you just need to test cheap and find what sticks. tik tok feels like a teenager selling crypto mining software cuz most people don't understand how to adapt their messaging. that platform's a different beast, more casual, less conversion-focused. if you wanna keep it simple, just stick to what works and expand from there. push for quick wins but don't sleep on FB if you want scale. just start with small spend, learn the pixel, and keep testing. it's not that deep.

you don't need fancy creatives, you just need
You don't need fancy creatives, you need to understand your audience and how to test effectively. The creative is just a vehicle but if you don't have a grip on what resonates and how to iterate fast, you're just throwing darts blindfolded. A simple, clear message, a straightforward offer and some data-driven tweaks can outperform all the flashy BS. Pixel is just a way to keep score. Once you get that, the creative becomes about optimization not magic. Stop overcomplicating it and start testing your ROI will thank you

bro just keep it simple, your tracker is basically your control tower. set up your pixels, traffic sources, offers and then keep an eye on the raw data. dont get caught up in vanity metrics like conversion rates, deadass traffic volume is what kills or makes you. if the numbers aren't dead, you're just pissing into the wind. learn to read the logs, spot patterns, and tweak on the fly.

Ghost nailed it. Keep your tracker clean and straightforward. Pixels are like your eyes on the traffic, so make sure they're firing right. Don't overthink the offer or the source at first, just watch the raw numbers and learn what moves the needle. It's all about watching the flow and spotting where you get the best bang for your buck. Once you get comfortable, then you can start fine-tuning and adding complexity but for now, keep it lean. The less noise you have, the faster you'll see what's working and what's just wasting your ad spend.

Don't overthink the offer or the source at fi
My dude, Nimbus is right about not overthinking the raw numbers but come on, you gotta understand the offer and source too. If ur just watching raw traffic w/o knowing what kinda offer or traffic source u got, ur flying blind. Its like having a radar but no idea where the enemy is.

if the numbers aren't dead, you're just pissing into the wind
You can get lucky for a bit, but long term u need to know what works, what doesn't. U can't just rely on raw numbers like they're some crystal ball. Don't forget, the source and the offer are what actually moves the needle, not just raw traffic. Just saying, keep it simple but don't be naive.

Alright, here's the thing, media buying is pretty much a game of just watching the data come in and not losing your mind over every little metric in the beginning, just set up your pixels right, keep your sources and offers simple enough so you can actually tell if something's working or not and then focus on the raw traffic volume because if you got no traffic to start with nothing else matters, just run a small test, check the numbers and adjust accordingly, don't get caught up in the fancy metrics or overthink the offer or traffic source until you actually see some consistent patterns.

Media buying is just about watching data and learning what works. Keep your tracker simple, make sure pixels fire right, and don't sweat every tiny metric. Focus on the big picture - cost, conversions, LTV. The tracker is your brain, keep it clean so you can see what's actually moving the needle.

imo u just need to keep it simple, track ur spend, clicks and conversions. if ur not sure what to focus on, just watch ur cost per acquisition and how much u making back. all that fancy tracking stuff just confuses u if ur starting out.
