IPv4 vs IPv6 proxies - what the hell is actually going on?

So I posted about this a while ago but man I'm still having hell of a time figuring out why my setup keeps crashing or not working right when I switch between IPv4 and IPv6 proxies. Like I thought it was supposed to be seamless but nope, total nightmare. I've got a decent provider, decent speed, but switching to IPv6 seems to just break everything and I get these weird connection errors or my tools just don't detect the proxies anymore. I'm running a scraper that worked perfect with IPv4, then I try the IPv6 version and bam, it's like hitting a brick wall. Anyone else got this mess? Is it some kind of compatibility issue with my tools or is the provider just full of it? I've checked all the configs, DNS settings, network stacks, still nothing. It's frustrating as hell cause I keep reading IPv6 is the future but I swear it's just giving me more headaches. How do I even troubleshoot this properly? Ymmv but I'm starting to think IPv6 proxies are just hype for now, or I'm missing smth obvious. Need some real-world advice before I throw my whole setup out the window.

Yup, that's pretty common. Have you checked if your scraper and tools fully support IPv6? Sometimes they just aren't ready for it or need specific configs to work smoothly.

bruh I feel ya, I was knee deep in this nightmare too. switched to IPv6 and my tools just gave up, like they weren't built for it. turned out some of my configs were still stuck on IPv4, so I had to manually update DNS and network settings. fr, it's a mess but once you get those support flags right it's kinda better

3 years ago I went through a similar mess. spent days trying to get my scraper to work with IPv6, and turned out my proxy provider's support for IPv6 was half-baked. had to switch providers and tweak my configs multiple times. fr, it's not just plug-and-play, especially with tools that aren't built for IPv6 yet.

smh I tried to tell folks this years ago, IPv6 is still a pain in the ass for most tools and configs. It's not just plug and play like IPv4. Unless your setup is super updated and your provider's IPv6 support is solid, you're just asking for trouble. ymmv but most of the time you gotta do some serious config tweaks.

different angle: maybe it's not just the provider or your configs. check if your tools or scripts actually support IPv6 properly. some still have hiccups with IPv6 detection or connection handling.

disagree, I've been using IPv6 proxies without any issues in my setup for months now. Maybe your provider or configs are not the main problem, it could be the tools just aren't fully compatible yet.

77% of folks I know have had IPv6 proxy issues, mainly cause their tools just aren't fully compatible yet. Ever tried using Proxy SwitchyOmega with IPv6 support? Might be worth a shot, see if that smooths out your setup.

Honestly I think a lot of ppl get caught up in the tech hype and forget most sites don't even support IPv6 yet so ipv4 still rules in a lot of cases lol. I've seen some ppl switch and then realize they still get blocked just as much or more sometimes.

u think switching proxies makes a real difference if u still get blocked? smh, feels like most of the time it's just the same shit different proxy imo

Disagree, I've been seeing more sites upgrading their support and ipv6 can actually help with less congestion and better speeds. but yeah, it's not everywhere yet. wanna bet most people just stick with ipv4 because it's easy?

tbh if you wanna stay ahead, rn I'd focus on IPv6 support especially if you're doing any sort of high volume scraping or automation. Some sites are already pushing IPv6 and it can help reduce congestion and speed up things. But yeah, a lot still run IPv4 only, so don't ditch your IPv4 proxies just yet.

Actually, I've had better luck with IPv6 proxies for high volume stuff, less congestion and faster speeds. My tip: always test both, ymmv, but investing in IPv6 support now can save you headaches down the line when more sites fully switch over.

different angle: I actually think a lot of folks overlook how tricky IPv6 can be in practice. I remember setting up proxies for a client last year and getting some weird issues with IPv6 leakages and inconsistent support. Not everything runs smooth just because it's the newest tech. Sometimes I feel like folks hype it up without really understanding the hurdles

Haha, I remember when I first tried IPv6 proxies and spent a week troubleshooting leaks. Never again w/o a solid tool like ProxyRack, seriously saved my skin.

Last month I finally tested IPv6 proxies on a big campaign and man, the speeds were noticeably better but I ran into some weird DNS leaks that took a bit to figure out. Do y'all usually run any specific tests or tools before switching over to IPv6 proxies?

bruh, y'all really think IPv6 is just faster and easier? lol, never trust speed alone. always test for DNS leaks and make sure your proxy setup supports IPv6 correctly or you'll be in for surprises.

lol, I swapped to IPv6 proxies a while ago and thought I was set, but got hit with some weird connectivity issues, took me ages to figure out it was DNS leaks. now I always run a leak test after setting up. wish I knew that earlier.

IPv4 vs IPv6 proxies - what the hell is actually going on? Honestly I think most people just see the hype and assume IPv6 is automatically better. I tried both and sometimes IPv6 can be faster but also more prone to leaks if not set up right. Don't get tunnel vision on speed, always test for leaks and support issues.
