How fast is too fast for link velocity? Need feedback

Just ran some tests and got wild results. I pushed my backlink acquisition to about 50 links a week for a new site, thinking more is better, right? But after 3 weeks, I saw a spike in rankings and traffic. Not huge but enough to make me think I hit a sweet spot. Usually I stay conservative around 10-15 links a week, but I wanted to test the limits. Does anyone have experience with this? When do you think link velocity becomes a red flag for Google? I feel like I might be on to something, but ymmv. Would love to hear if anyone's experimented with faster link building and what outcomes you saw.
 
Honestly I've seen sites that build way faster than 50 links a week and don't get hit. The key is more about quality and natural timing than just raw velocity. If it looks spammy or too sudden, yeah maybe but I've had stuff rank with quick link spikes and no penalties lol.
 
Different angle: maybe the spike is just a signal to slow down, if google notices unnatural speed it could flag you later, better to keep it consistent even if you see short-term gains.
 
25 links a week is kinda safe, 50 is pushing it. seen some go faster with no hits but it's always a risk if it looks unnatural. best to test small first and watch for red flags.
 
just my 2 cents: I think faster link velocity can work but only if you keep the links super natural looking. I did a test pushing like 70 links a week for a niche site and didn't get hit, but i also made sure the anchors looked legit and spread out over time. maybe just timing and quality matter more than raw speed?
