just ran some tests and wow the speed hit isn't as bad as i expected, especially with multi-hop. tbh i thought this was overkill for most ppl but man after a few speed tests its actually usable. got decent ping and downloads still not perfect but enough for streaming or torrenting even with double vpn on. its really for the privacy freaks who wanna make sure no one can trace you if one server gets popped. no joke my connection felt more stable too probably from the extra layer. i mean does anyone else use multi-hop daily? or is it just for us paranoid junkies lol. ymmv but i think im gonna keep it on for my main vpn now

just my 2 cents, but all these extra hops can seriously slow you down more than you think long term, especially if ur not on fiber. sure, privacy is king but sometimes the tradeoff ain't worth it, imo. not everyone needs that kinda paranoia lol.

yep exactly, i get where ur coming from but honestly i think if ur on decent internet, like fiber or good cable, multi-hop can be kinda a peace of mind thing and not ruin ur day. sure, maybe not for streaming 24/7 but for real privacy freaks, it's like an insurance policy. smh, sometimes u gotta weigh the paranoia vs practicality. stay safe out there!

bruh, i really doubt most folks are using multi-hop daily and not feeling the hit. i run a pretty solid connection and even then, the latency jumps are noticeable. ymmv but for most people, it's just overkill and not worth the hassle.

careful with thinking multi-hop is just overkill tho, i used it on my main and honestly didn't notice much difference in daily stuff, but yeah, sometimes it feels like overkill for casual use. anyone else feel like it's more about peace of mind than actual need?

like, I did a bunch of speed tests last year when I set up multi-hop and was surprised how it held up. I usually stream on my daily driver and even with multi-hop it's still decent, no lag spikes or anything. Feels kinda like a peace of mind thing now, especially when I'm doing stuff I wanna keep extra private. YMMV but I'm def sticking with it for my main setup.

If you really wanna reduce the speed hit, try tweaking your server locations pick ones closer or less busy. Also, enabling only multi-hop for sensitive stuff and turning it off when gaming or streaming helps balance out the

lol yeah I feel ya, I was surprised too when I tested it last month, thought it would tank but actually pretty solid for what it is. kinda makes you wonder if it's really just paranoia or if there's smth to it.

man been doing this 3 years and honestly, multi-hop can be useful but not always necessary. Tip - if you're doing it just for privacy, a good VPN + decent security habits are enough. Overkill?

different angle: sometimes multi-hop isn't about just privacy but about avoiding certain gov or corporate tracking, especially in risky areas. if u got serious threats, overkill might be ur best bet. don't dismiss it so quick.

Different angle: yeah but if u rely on multi-hop for threat avoidance, gotta consider latency and speed hits. Sometimes overkill can make ux worse, no? U think the security gains outweigh the downsides in high-risk scenarios

"Double VPN / Multi-hop - Overkill or Must-Have" - if u wanna go multi-hop, pick servers in different countries, not just multiple hops in same region, helps diversify your exit points and avoid easy correlation.

Careful with thinking multi-hop is always overkill. I ran a double VPN setup in a country with strict censorship and it actually saved my ass a few times. Sure, it slowed me down but for my privacy and safety it was totally worth it. So I think it depends what u need and where u at.

honestly i'd say sometimes overkill is exactly what you need, especially if you're dodging heavy surveillance or censorship. Ever thought about how much extra security you actually get vs the speed hit? Wanna run a double VPN just for peace of mind or for legit security needs?
