is anyone else missing how simple things used to be? right, i'm looking at some old spreadsheets from like 3 years ago and it's depressing. ran a cpa offer direct with an advertiser for a diet supplement. no network middleman. i was getting $42 per lead, net 30 terms but they paid on the 1st every month like clockwork. my epc was sitting around $8.50 because i had full control of the pre-landing page copy. fast forward to now, using the same traffic source for a similar offer through a big network. payout is $37, net 45, and the epc is down to $5.20 because the lander is generic garbage they won't let me change. plus there's this whole 'quality score' deduction that just shaves off random leads each week. the numbers are clear but i feel stuck. going direct again means finding trustworthy advertisers which feels impossible now after two went radio silent last year. maybe i'm just tired and nostalgic.

here's the thing. Nostalgia makes everything seem easier but truth is the game was never that simple long-term. The real shift is now you need to be more strategic, build real relationships, and be ready for the mess that comes with it.

man I feel you, been there done that got the t-shirt with that nostalgia crap, back in the day you could just reach out to an advertiser, get a quick yes and run with it now it's all this QA score, spam filters and network crap that make everything harder and honestly less profitable sometimes I swear finding a trustworthy direct deal is like finding a unicorn now everyone wants to play the middleman and take a cut and then you got these garbage landers they won't let you change even if you know they suck but hey maybe it's time to stop chasing that old glory and start building something real with actual relationships instead of hoping some network will do the hard work for you, gotta admit it's exhausting though sometimes I miss the simple days when I could just split test a few pages and get paid without all the red tape

missing the simplicity is just nostalgia talking. Maybe in the beginning it felt easier, cause you didn't have to deal with all the extra layers now. But truth? The core of the game hasn't changed much. It's still about finding good offers, good traffic, and making it work.

nah, i call bs on that. most of these gurus selling this "the game was never that simple" crap are just recycling the same tired lines from 2012. sure, there were always layers, but back then it was easier to find a trustworthy contact, run some simple split tests, tweak the landing, and see real results. now? it's just a bunch of noise, filters, and "quality scores" that feel more like a game of whack-a-mole than real marketing. show me the data that proves the game has gotten more complex in a way that can't be circumvented with good old fashioned hustle.

most of the "new" stuff is just the same fundamentals dressed up in new jargon. the core is still the same, but everyone wants to pretend it's all about "strategic relationships" and "building trust". cmon, most of us know the real reason is because the network owners wanna keep their hands in your pocket. if it was really that complicated, why do some of us still hit good payouts while everyone else whines? smh, the game's just shifted, not changed. most "gurus" just want you to believe it's all about complexity so they can sell more courses. that's a you problem.

You sure it's the complexity that's killing the vibe or just the fact that everyone's trying to squeeze every penny out of the same traffic? I mean, I've seen guys cling to old direct deals cause it felt easier, but truth is they were prob just getting lazy. It's always been about adapting, not reminiscing. When I lost a couple of direct contacts last year, I realized I was relying too much on just a handful of sources. Diversify, build more relationships, and keep your eye on the follow-up game. The money's in the post-opt-in, not just the initial lead. Are you really trying to find a trustworthy direct or just chasing the ghost of what used to be?

thanks for the shout credence, but honestly i think we're all just feeling the rose-tinted glasses. i've been digging through my old pbn logs and man, the grind was different but the chaos was just as real. these days it's more about sneaking past the filters than simple outreach. still miss when a quick cold email could get you a few hundred bucks, lol.

Yeah I get the nostalgia but honestly, things were never as simple as people remember. Back in the day it was all about luck and a bit of charm, not strategy. Now it's a lot more data driven and yes, complicated but also more predictable if you play it right. The game's just evolved, not necessarily worse.

TBH, u might be right but the actual money in those deals was prob just luck and charm too. Now u have to put in work, which is annoying but at least u can kinda predict the outcome

rip, remember those old direct deal days, felt like catching lightning in a bottle, right? now everything's a mess of contracts, middlemen and red tape, makes it way less fun when you just wanna scale shit. but yeah, maybe a little more predictable if you actually work for it, still sucks tho.

yeah, i feel you. those good old days when you could just run a simple lp and get decent cpc, now everything's a maze. but trust me, the chaos is just a sign that there's still money to be made. gotta adapt and find new angles, or get left behind. the game never really changes, just the rules get tighter. keep testing, you'll crack it.

been there - burned a lot trying to keep it simple. now everything's a whitelist nightmare and the payouts are all over the place. the real trick is finding the new SSPs that still let you run a decent LP without giving up your kidney. if you chase the old days, you'll end up crying over lost margins. it's all about adapting, testing new traffic sources, and keeping your CPL low enough to survive the chaos. ROAS is just vanity, margins are king in this game

yeah, those days were nice, huh. now its all about the blackhat tricks and praying the offer sticks. same shit, different chaos, still chasing scraps.
