Building Your Own Proxy Pool Confused AF about Speeds and Types

Yo so I posted about proxies before but man this proxy pool thing got me all messed up now. Been trying to build my own and I keep reading mixed stuff about residential, datacenter, mobile proxies and how they all play with speed. I threw some tests on a few providers and honestly I dunno if I'm just bad at reading results or what but it's confusing as hell. Some say residential are slow but legit, datacenter are fast but easy to block, mobile proxies are somewhere in the middle but harder to detect. so what's the real scoop? I tested like 3 providers yesterday, some are like 200ms ping, others under 50 but then the IPs get banned fast. Is there a way to get a pool that's fast and not easily flagged? Or do I just gotta accept that building my own means choosing what I want and sacrificing speed or stealth? I'm really trying to understand how to mix these right for scraping but it feels like trial and error at this point. Anyone got tips or even just their own speed tests they wanna share? ICYMI, I'm tryna piece together a good proxy pool w/o wasting tons of cash or time.

bruh, yeah that's the game. faster usually = easier to get banned, slower usually = more legit but less quick. ya just gotta decide if you wanna gamble with speed or play it safe with stealth

bruh, I gotta disagree a bit tho. I've played around with proxies a lot and honestly speed and stealth aren't always that black and white. I found some residential proxies that are decently fast and hold up longer but yeah, they tend to be pricier. mobile proxies tend to be more stable in terms of not getting banned quick but yeah, they can be slower depending on the provider. imo, it's about mixing and matching based on what you need, like maybe use residential for longer runs and datacenter for quick tests. ymmv tho, it's messy but trial and error is kinda part of the game

just my 2 cents, speed and stealth ain't always a straight line, depends on the provider and setup. some residentials can surprise you with decent speed if you find a good one. trial and error still the name of the game here.

Been doing this 3 years and honestly that quote is kinda right but also kinda bs. I tried mixing things up and found that a good trick is to rotate residentials with a few datacenter IPs that aren't super popular or known to be proxies. ngl takes some time to find the right combos but I think the key is to keep your pool diverse and rotate often, that way you can keep speed decent while dodging bans.

honestly, that might work sometimes but don't get fooled into thinking it's a silver bullet. rotation helps but if the datacenter IPs are too obvious or get flagged fast, it's still a shot in the dark. u gotta really test and find legit sources that keep a low profile long term. pure trial and error atm, no magic recipe.

ok so haha yeah, pretty much. Tried building my own, ended up with a rollercoaster of speeds and flagged IPs, so I kinda gave up on the dream. It's always a tradeoff fr, you gotta pick what matters most.

U gotta remember, even after 3 years, most of this is still trial and error, no magic formulas.

Careful with just chasing speed, I once thought faster was better and ended up with a pool that got flagged quick. My tip? mix in some residentials with datacenter, even if they slow ya down a bit.

Yeah, but I'd say try setting up a rotating proxy service that includes residential and datacenter proxies with decent IP pools. Use tools like ProxyRack or Bright Data to test how different mixes perform over a week, then optimize based on your scrape success rate and speed. Sometimes, just balancing small batches of residentials with datacenter proxies can keep your pool stealthy without sacrificing all speed

Different angle: maybe focus less on raw speed and more on IP diversity. Like, I saw some tests where a mix of 70% residential and 30% datacenter kept the bans low and speeds decent. If u got a legit rotation setup, even 100-150ms ping can work if the pool is fresh. U gotta think about the purpose and adjust accordingly, sometimes sacrificing a lil speed for stealth is smarter.

Lol, proxies always feel like a wild goose chase. I've seen residentials hit 150-200ms but stay clean for weeks, datacenter under 50 but get banned quick, mobile in the middle. imo, aiming for a mix of 60% residential and 40% datacenter with regular rotation gives a decent balance between speed and stealth. Data shows pure residential can slow ya down but last longer, while datacenter's faster but riskier.

ngl thanks for the tips y'all, makes sense. Gotta test and see what kinda balance I can get, guess there's no magic combo. Yeah, some residentials surprisingly fast, but always risk getting banned quicker. Think I just gotta accept it's a game of trade-offs, bruh.
