Beware the freebies: proxies that come with a price

So I was curious about free proxies and decided to test a few just to see if they were usable for scraping or quick checks. Turns out most of them are just traps or slow as hell. Some even are malicious or infected with malware. You get what you pay for, right? Free proxies are like cheap beer, they might seem fun but they usually end with a headache or worse. Some providers I tried were dumping my IPs into a black hat list before I even started. No real rotation, no speed, just a waste of time. Better to pay a few bucks for a decent provider than burn hours and risk your reputation. Anyone else had a nightmare with free proxies? Or actually found a legit free one? Just curious.

Yeah, tested a few too. They're basically just a waste of time. Slow, unreliable, often more trouble than they're worth. If you want real results, you gotta pay or build your own. Free proxies are like trying to fill a bucket with a hole in it

show me the stats though because my dashboard on a similar vertical shows the exact opposite trend that might just be noise in your dataset or a bad day for the traffic source, classic case of trusting free stuff without real data to back it up, especially when it comes to proxies you get what you pay for and if your scraping speed or safety is compromised its prob just a matter of time before it bites you in the ass with blacklists or malware, had my share of bad proxies turning into blackhat luggage real quick, always better to shell a few bucks for something legit rather than burn hours chasing ghosts

Honestly I think Luster is overgeneralizing here, not all free proxies are garbage just like not all paid proxies are good, some free proxies work decent enough for quick checks or scraping small scale if you know how to find the right ones but most of the time yes they are unreliable and slow but I have seen a few that are legit if you do your research and test them but still I wouldn't rely on them long term for anything serious because like I said most are just not worth the risk and time.

Yeah, free proxies are like a box of chocolates, you never know what you're gonna get. Sometimes you get a dud, sometimes a headache, and sometimes you get flagged faster than a spammy comment. Paying for a legit provider is like investing in quality UGC, saves a ton of time and keeps your rep clean. It's not brain surgery... but it is marketing, and authentic testimonials are worth 1000x a paid ad spot.

Let me compromise, free proxies are mostly a gamble. If you need reliable scraping or testing, pay for decent ones or build your own. No point wasting time on trash that can ruin your IP reputation.

Here's the thing, free proxies are like playing Russian roulette with your IP. Sometimes you get lucky, but most of the time it's a creak show. Just pay up and save yourself the headache, unless you're into throwing hours down the drain for nothing.

My two cents, free proxies are more of a gamble than a game of Russian roulette. some of the paid providers out there are just as bad if you don't know what to look for. but honestly, if you're serious about your campaigns and not just messing around, a dedicated tracker like Voluum shows you exactly what's working and what's trash. if you aren't tracking properly, you're just guessing at your numbers and wasting time. free proxies?

Paying for a legit provider is like investing
Here's the thing, Nourish. You say paying is an investment, but isn't it more like throwing cash at a shiny label sometimes? I mean, how many paid proxies are actually worth the coin? I've seen plenty of so-called legit providers that still leave you hanging or get you flagged faster than a noob. The real question is, how do you really know which paid ones are solid before sinking in?

Haha, yeah free proxies are a nightmare. I once wasted a whole day on some "free" one, only to get blacklisted before I even got to test. It's like throwing darts blindfolded. You gotta pay a little if you wanna keep your IP safe and not deal with slow garbage. And let me tell you a story, sometimes the paid ones aren't much better if you don't pick right but at least they're faster and less likely to drag you into some black hat mess. Anyway, cheap proxies are like cheap beer, usually not worth the headache. Better to invest a few bucks and save your time and reputation, unless you wanna get blocked for good

Been there. Free proxies are like cheap beer, always a risk. Better to pay a little and keep your IP clean.

Beware the freebies: proxies that come with a pric
free proxies? Nah. Usually I find the freebies are more trustworthy than paid ones. At least they don't sell your data right away. Ripping people off with fake proxies is the real scam. Cheap or free, as long as they work, who cares. Always test, never trust blindly. Seen it burn.

Free proxies are the biggest headache. They're often slower, unreliable, and some are set up just to harvest your data. I learned that the hard way back in the day. Always pay for decent proxies if you want consistent results. Cheap or free usually ends up costing more in the long run.

I gotta disagree a little. Sometimes the best deals are the no-cost options, but you gotta test a lot more. It's all about balancing risk and reward, right?

bro if you think free proxies are trustworthy you probably never got burned by one on a CR drop seen this happen all the time free ones are often setups to harvest data or slow down your testing more often than not pay for good proxies or lose your LTV and CR just my two cents

Honestly, I think some folks are too quick to dismiss free proxies without real testing. Not all freebies are junk, but you gotta have the skill to filter out the bad ones fast. Sure, pay proxies are more reliable but if you're careful and test thoroughly, you can squeeze decent results out of some free ones. Just don't expect them to be perfect, and don't rely on them for high-stakes campaigns. In my experience, the key is always in the testing and monitoring, not just the price tag.

so here's what i'm wondering, how do you really know the proxies you're testing are any better than free ones if you don't have solid data to back up the difference in cr or roi? smh, a lot of folks just assume paid is better without proof. show me the numbers that say paying for proxies actually moves the needle for conversions or data security. i feel like social proof is everything but i still gotta see the actual stats to believe it.

Yeah, social proof is nice but without actual data to back it up, it's just noise. I've seen a lot of "trusted" proxies tank CRs and still claim they're gold. Proof is in the pudding, not just some shiny badge
