Beware of FB/Google/TikTok traffic scams, confusing numbers

Been running some tests, and man the numbers are all over. Started with FB, thought I had a grip but got burned on fake clicks or some shit. CVRs tanked from 3.2 to 1.8 in a day, CTRs look real dodgy too. Google is no better, same story different day, CPCs creeping up but no conversions, maybe some bot traffic sneaking in? TikTok is a whole other nightmare, CPMs are high but CVRs are like 0.5 compared to the 2.5 I get on native networks. Tried to piece together data logs but everything's inconsistent, logs say one thing but reports say another. Not sure if it's me or the networks feeding fake numbers or just broken tracking. Anyone else noticing this chaos? Feels like buying traffic in 2023 is just hoping you hit some real user at this point

5 I get on native networks
Trust me on this, u gotta read between the lines. CVRs on native networks aren't necessarily more legit just because they look better. I saw the same thing back in the day when I first started testing, those numbers can be manipulated or just plain misleading. U might be getting some real traffic but the quality is often questionable. Never scale a campaign based on a few days of data, especially with those wild swings

been there. CVR swings are just part of the game when traffic sources play dirty. I've seen wild swings on legit networks that ended up just being a crap LP or a quick bot spike. Scaling on a few days data is reckless, but so is ignoring the trend entirely. Track it, get longer data, and always have a control.

yeah TikTok CPMs are no joke, but the CVR difference is what's killer. feels like they're just feeding you impressions not real traffic sometimes. gotta really dig into the data, logs can lie especially with those mobile or app installs. bet most of the CPMs are inflated by bot or ghost traffic too. it's frustrating trying to separate legit from fake, especially when reports are inconsistent. imo TikTok's traffic quality is all over the place, you gotta watch those click patterns real tight or you'll burn through budget quick.

Yeah, it's a mess out there. Fake clicks, bot traffic, inconsistent logs. Feels like 2012 again but worse. Best bet is to stay lean, watch patterns and trust the eyeballs more than the dashboards. Sometimes the numbers lie like a bad ex.

Yeah, traffic chaos is just part of the dance these days. Fake clicks, bots, inconsistent logs, the whole circus. You gotta trust your gut and those raw patterns, not just the dashboards which are often feeding the algo what it wants to see. TikTok especially is a minefield, CPMs high but CVRs feel like they're just throwing impressions at you. Hope you got a good whitelist to weed out the fakes or you're just throwing money into the abyss.

Yeah man, welcome to the chaos. FB's fake click game is next level sometimes. I swear they're feeding you some phantom traffic just to mess with your head. Always gotta keep those blacklists tight, else you end up chasing ghosts. It's a grind but staying lean and trusting your gut beats chasing phantoms.

Gonna have to call BS on the fake click theory. Feels like everyone is crying wolf just because their tracking is broken or their targeting is off. The data doesn't lie, if ur CVRs are tanking, ur traffic is trash or ur targeting is off.

Honestly I think a lot of this fake click and traffic talk is overblown I mean yeah bots are out there but I've been doing this long enough to see that a lot of the chaos is just bad data and tracking issues not necessarily some conspiracy of fake traffic feeding the funnels I've had CVR dips too and it's often just the tracking pixel misfiring or some update on the ad platform that throws off the numbers for a day or two I've seen legit campaigns tank and then bounce back after cleaning the targeting or just waiting it out so let's not get too caught up in the doom and gloom sometimes it's just the wild west of digital marketing being honest with yourself about your data quality and not losing sleep over phantom clicks is the real move

Yeah, I see your point about the tracking chaos... but I've seen this pattern before. When CVRs drop that sharply in a day, it rarely is just bad data. Usually there's some fake or bot traffic sneaking in, or at least some kind of ad fatigue or bad targeting that looks like fraud. I wouldn't dismiss the possibility of networks feeding false numbers either. It's a recurring theme in 2023, trying to chase good traffic feels like chasing ghosts sometimes. But it's also worth questioning your own setup, sometimes a small misconfiguration can make logs look totally different from reports. Still, the whole scene's got that smoke and mirrors vibe right now.

Numbers all over is code for your tracking is trash, not the traffic. My pixel says otherwise, CTRs don't just tank 1 point and CVRs don't drop 1.4 in a day without some shady clicks. Fix your logs or your setup, not the traffic

Numbers all over usually means tracking is broken, not necessarily fake traffic. Sure, bots are out there but if CVRs tank that fast, it's often a tracking or attribution mess. Proof? Show me the raw logs, not just reports that might be skewed. Otherwise you're just guessing.
