Anchor text ratios white hat debate again lol

ok so so I posted about anchor text ratios before, but honestly this topic is like that one cousin who keeps coming to family dinners and never shuts up about their conspiracy theories. On one side you got the pure white hats screaming 'exact match? bad!' and on the other you got the black hat folks doing whatever it takes, stuffing exact matches everywhere. I mean, are we really still arguing about this in 2023? I kinda think it depends on your risk appetite, bruh. I've seen sites tank with even a tiny bit of over-optimized anchor text but also seen shady sites rank like crazy with full exact match spam. It's like a game of Russian roulette. If you wanna stay squeaky clean, you play by the rules, but let's be real, everyone's bending them a little, right? Just wanna hear if anyone's got a solid strategy that's not gonna get you penalized but still moves the needle. Or are we all just flying blind and hoping Google doesn't notice?

just my 2 cents, I tried all that exact match stuff back in 2018 and my site actually gained rankings without penalties but then I saw a buddy's site tank after he went heavy on

I feel ya. I'd say keep your anchor text diversified, don't rely on just exact matches. Mix in branded, generic, and long-tail stuff, that way you stay safer and still move. Play it smart, bruh.

Honestly I think all this anchor text talk is overblown. People act like Google is some code-breaking mastermind but in reality most sites get penalized for bad UX or spammy backlinks, not just anchor text ratios. You wanna stay safe? diversify, focus on content quality and don't sweat every little exact match. Most of the penalties I've seen come from spammy link profiles, not a few exact match

Honestly I think all this anchor talk is kinda overblown too, like yeah it matters but not the end of the world if you mix it up a bit. People act like Google's some kinda evil mastermind but most penalties come from spammy links or bad UX, not just anchor ratios. Just keep it natural and don't go full spam mode, you'll be good. Trust the process.

yo, so you think risk appetite plays the biggest role here? or you still leaning on safe diversification? also, how much of a difference do you think exact match ratios really make if your backlink profile is solid overall?

just my 2 cents, maybe try using ahrefs or SEMrush to keep track of your anchor ratios and stay kinda safe w/o overthinking it, those tools can help spot over-optimized links before they become a problem

ahrefs and SEMrush are fine, but let's be honest, they only show what's out there. can you really trust a tool to tell you if you're risking a penalty? seems like a gamble either way, no?

yo, you ever just wing it and hope google doesn't notice? I did that once with some kinda spicy anchor ratio and surprise surprise, site got sandboxed for a bit. now I keep it chill and mix stuff up,

lol, nah, tools only show what they see, not the full story. u gotta use ur brain too, not just rely on tech. sometimes u just gotta feel it out or risk it.

last month i messed up and went all in on exact match anchor text in a rush, thinking google wouldn't notice. got slapped with a penalty quick. do you think the black hats really don't care about the risks anymore, or is that just luck?

just my 2 cents, but the OP's got a tiny mistake. saying exact match is "bad" in 2023 is kinda outdated. google's more sophisticated now, and while overdoing it can still hurt, a little natural exact match won't get you penalized automatically. ymmv but the old black-and-white thinking is dead.

careful with thinking exact match is dead da, it can still work if u mix it right but the risk is there. i've seen guys get away with it for a while, but once u cross a line, penalty city. do u think that sticking to slightly varied anchor text is enough or u still go full natural?
