Anchor Text Ratios - Exact Match vs Branded vs Naked URLs

Yo, so I just did a quick before and after on my backlink profile and wanted to share. I was experimenting with anchor text ratios lately cause I read some stuff that exact match anchors might be risky but also kinda powerful if done right. So I went heavy on branded and naked URLs, kept the exact match at like 10-15%. Before I changed anything, my site had kinda shaky rankings and some penalties lurking. After a few weeks of adjusting the anchor text ratio to more branded and naked URLs, my rankings jumped a bit, no penalties so far. Feels like Google prefers a natural link profile, right? Anyone else messing around with anchor ratios and seeing what actually works? Need a quick answer cause I wanna scale this faster, lol.

Last month I was messing with anchor ratios too, got some weird rankings drop after going heavy on exact match. Then I remembered I added a bunch of branded anchors from high authority sites and saw my site stabilize and climb again. Moral of the story, fam, sometimes a little branded juice from legit sources can make a difference, imo lol.

Honestly, going super natural with a mix of branded, naked URLs, and some long-tail anchor text can do more for long-term stability. Avoid putting all eggs in one basket and keep that ratio varied, fam. Google likes to see a real link profile, not a spammy one.

man just my 2 cents: quick thought, maybe don't overthink the exact match stuff so much, ymmv, but I'd test a small batch of branded with some niche keywords thrown in. then see if it holds or flops, lol. patience is key, scale slow.

Hey, you sure that shifting away from exact match might actually slow down your initial growth? sometimes exact match can give a little push early on, even if it looks risky. maybe balancing with branded and naked URLs is safer long-term, but idk if you'll see fast gains like that w/o some of the "risky" stuff. might be worth testing smaller chunks of exact match just to see how it reacts. Catch you later, keep testing!

Actually, your anchor ratio looks kinda off. Keeping exact match at 10-15% might still be risky if you're not careful. I'd suggest testing even lower and focusing more on branded and naked URLs, especially if you want stability long-term. Been there, done that, still testing lol.

wait, for real? u think keeping exact match at 10-15% is still risky? I lowkey went higher than that before and saw some uptick in rankings but yeah, I guess it's all about testing and not overdoing it. might try dropping it even more and see if it stays stable. fam, always gotta keep it natural or risk getting slapped later.

If you're messing with anchor ratios, try mixing in some branded and naked URLs with branded at least 70% and keep exact match under 10, that waaay it looks way more natural to Google.

just my 2 cents, but going heavy on branded and naked URLs with only 10-15% exact match might not be ideal either. i think a more balanced mix with lower exact match and a good chunk of naked URLs is safer long term, especially if ur trying to avoid penalties.

just my 2 cents, but i think sometimes too much branded and naked URLs could look kinda spammy too, even if rankings go up for now. imo a lil bit more diverse anchor profile might be safer long term. sometimes

just my 2 cents, I remember messing around with anchor ratios a while back and thinking exact match was king until I saw my site get hammered. switched to more branded and naked URLs and it felt way safer but still got decent clicks. sometimes less is more, bruh.

Been doing this 3 years and I gotta say I kinda disagree on the whole "exact match is king" thing. I played around with it a lot and yeah it worked for a bit but then I saw my rankings tank. Now I use mostly branded and naked URLs and my site's been holding steady. Feels like the algorithm's gotten smarter and less forgiving with all those exact match ratios.

honestly just my 2 cents, I experimented with a high exact match ratio too and ended up with a Google slap. Now I lean more on branded and naked URLs, less risky and more stable long term. feels way safer honestly.

Careful with just blindly trusting that, tho. Feels safer now, but the algorithm changes can still surprise ya. I'd say diversify ur anchor types, don't rely on just one. Anything too predictable will get smoked eventually.

Haha, just read that title and immediately remembered a client who thought exact match was magic. Turns out, I told him to hold up after the first boost and not get too greedy. Man, wish I had a dollar every time someone gets hit for overdoing it

lol, yeah, remember when we thought 80% exact match was safe? data shows sites with more than 20% exact match start seeing drops pretty quick. better to keep it under 10-15% max, imo.

ok so disagree, ive seen sites run 30-40% exact match long term with no issues if the content is solid and niche is stable. algorithm updates are more about content quality and user signals than anchor ratios. trust me, ive tested it.
