Building links in finance & health niches, total waste of time

Sighs Ive been throwing everything at these damn niches for months now, tried guest posts, PBNs, outreach, you name it. Before I started, I was doing okay, steady traffic, some rankings. Now? crushed by the big guys. My latest campaign in finance? spent like a grand, got maybe 2 decent links, traffic barely moved and I lost 15% organic overnight after some algorithm tweak. Just what I needed. And health? its worse. I mean seriously, how do these giants keep crushing it with their outreach? I think Ive just been throwing darts with blindfolds on. Do you guys have a quick answer or am I just throwing money into the void for nothing? Its all a damn game and I feel like Im losing by the day.

honestly I think it's not about throwing darts blindly, it's about finding the right darts. The giants might be crushing it because they have the juice and the resources but that doesn't mean the whole game is lost. Maybe you're chasing the wrong signals or focusing too much on backlinks when really the secret sauce is better targeting and fresh content. Or maybe just a bad week, but you gotta keep tweaking instead of throwing more money into the void. I've seen campaigns tank and bounce back with just a small pivot

Throwing everything at niches is a dead end. Been there. Instead of all-in, try smarter. Focus on scalable assets. Content, tools, micro-communities.

Listen, throwing money and guesswork at finance and health is a quick ticket to burnout and wasted ROI. The big guys have the bankroll but that doesn't mean the game is over for everyone else. It's about building real authority, not just chasing shortcuts that get crushed by algorithm updates.

Look, throwing money at these niches thinking more links or outreach will suddenly make you dominate is a recipe for disaster I've been there and done that in my early days in nutra I blew through thousands trying to outspend and outlink the big guys and guess what happened? traffic stayed flat or even dipped because the algorithm is smarter than most of us and it favors authority and relevance not just random backlinks or outreach spam The key isn't about throwing darts blindly it's about building a strong scalable asset and that means focusing on content and conversion Those big guys? they got massive content farms and authority sites that rank for everything because they invested years into building trust not just buying links in the short term I'd say stop chasing quick wins and start focusing on LPs that convert and consistent content that builds your niche authority over time the numbers don't lie and this game rewards patience not blind spending

sounds like you hitting a wall with the usual.

simple math - when the big guys show up, they eat your traffic. no amount of guest posts or outreach changes that overnight.

Girder, that's the classic cop-out. Been there, scaled that. The big guys eating your traffic is just part of the game.

Look, throwing cash and doing the same old outreach in finance and health is just banging your head against the wall. Those niches are brutal and yes, the big guys with the deep pockets and MOAT tend to crush everyone else. But here's the thing - you don't beat them with more links, more outreach, or throwing money at the problem. That's just tactics, not strategy. You gotta build a damn moat of your own, focus on quality content, brand trust, and a community that values your voice. The reason they keep winning is cuz they own the front end, but more importantly, they own the back end of the customer journey. It's not just about the links or rankings, it's about the LTV of that traffic. If you're just fighting for scraps in the SERPs, yeah, you're toast. You need to figure out how to control the conversation, make your audience stick around, and build real authority where it counts. The big guys aren't just throwing links, they're planting roots. So yes, you're hitting a wall right now, but that's just a sign you're playing the wrong game. It's not about beating them at their game, it's about changing the game entirely

Been there, burned that budget in niches like that. My take - link building in finance and health is like pouring juice into a sieve. The big guys are just too locked down, and honestly manual stuff beats the black box AI spam all day.

Hard disagree with that take. The 'big guys' with their deep pockets and MOAT are not invincible, they just make you think they are. That whole mentality of throwing your hands up and saying they 'crush everyone' is a cop-out. If you believe in your offer, your angle, your creative, there's always a way around their fortress.

They might have deep pockets but they are not unbeatable. The key is to find gaps they overlook, social proof, create unique angles they can't copy easily. If you just keep trying to beat them at their game with traditional link tactics, yeah, you'll lose. But if you get clever, adapt fast, and stop whining about their MOAT, you'll find cracks in their armor.

So you're saying the big guys are just better, and there's no room for a smaller fish? Feels like 2012 all over again. But tell me - what if the real game is about smart plays, not just throwing cash or copying what they do? Are you really out of ideas or just out of patience? Sometimes, the best move is to stop playing their game and build your own lane

Look, I get the frustration but honestly if you think these big guys are just smarter or have some secret sauce you're missing out. They've been in the game long enough to build real moat and resources. But the thing is, big players only keep winning if you let them make you think you're out of the game. The real juice is in doing what they can't or won't do anymore. Finding gaps, doing things manually, building real relationships, doing deep niche research. I've seen small sites crack the code in finance and health by shifting focus from trying to outrun the big dogs to outsmart them. Just because you're small doesn't mean you're out of options. Sometimes it's about being a lowkey ninja instead of a heavy hitter throwing money at walls. Low CTR campaigns and organic hustle can win if you keep the LTV high enough and don't chase the same old shiny objects. Another day, another test but throwing cash blindfolded is just a slow bleed.
