Geo proxies for local content, what a mess

Just wasted a day testing geo proxies from three providers for a local content campaign. Nothing consistent, speed is all over the place, CVRs plummeted. Tried the usual suspects, BrightData, Smartproxy, Oxylabs, even some shady no-name and all gave different results. Guess what, no clear winner. Some proxies from one provider block on certain sites, others are slow as hell. Prices keep climbing but quality? Still a lottery. Anyone actually cracked this or just throwing darts? Feels like this whole geo proxy thing is just a money sink right now.

geo proxies are a black hole for your money if you don't know what you're doing. Throwing around different providers and hoping for a win is just wasting time and budget. If you think proxies are the problem, you're missing the real issue - your LP, your targeting, or your cloaking

honestly think geo proxies are just the tip of the iceberg. People chase speed and block rates but forget about the data consistency. If you set up your scraper right, you can kinda work around some of that chaos. Sure, some sites block proxies, but most of the time it's the quality of your scraping logic. Tweaking headers, user agents, regex cleanup. Not just swapping proxies. Also, prices climbing is a sign providers are squeezing more, not necessarily better. TL;DR, stop blaming proxies and start fixing your scraping game.

Geo proxies are overrated if ur relying on them for consistent results. Ive tested this, and no matter how much u pay or how shiny the provider looks, u get chaos. Its all about ur setup, not ur proxies. If u think proxies are ur bottleneck, ur chasing ghosts. The real issue is ur process and data handling, not some supposed magic proxy.

Cracked it? Nah, more like learned to live with the chaos and keep the whiskey handy. No magic wand, just lots of trial and error and hoping the next proxy doesn't throw a tantrum when you least expect it. If you're waiting for the perfect setup, you'll be waiting forever, so might as well embrace the mess and move on.

so wraith, you saying even the big names can't deliver stable data? That's what I thought. How do you handle location targeting then without losing CVR chaos?

Honestly I think yall sleeping on geo proxies, they aint perfect but they still beat the hell outta using VPNs or IP pools. Messy sometimes sure but if you know how to tweak and test for each geo it can actually work pretty well. Just gotta stay adaptive and not expect magic.

Geo proxies are like that one crazy uncle in the family, always a mess but somehow still gets the job done better than VPNs or IP pools. VPNs are too clean and predictable, easy for the algo to spot. Geo proxies? Yeah they're flaky but at least they hide the real pattern long enough to make some conversions before the tracking gods catch on. Messy is better than nothing when you're trying to keep Tier 3 afloat and the attribution keeps shifting. Just gotta know how to juggle the chaos and not get your campaigns locked out every other day.

i gotta disagree a bit. yeah, geo proxies can be better than VPNs or IP pools if you know what you doing but in practice they're just a headache. all that tweaking and testing? just slows you down and creaps up costs. the data doesn't lie, if you want consistent scale just buy legit local IPs or use real device farms.

geo proxies are a blackhat nightmare. Always some kinda leak or slow as hell. Best just buy a legit VPN and mask your traffic through a few different servers.

OMG, geo proxies are like trying to herd cats! So many leaks and lag it's like molasses. I swear, legit VPNs are better but still not perfect.

I swear, legit VPNs are better but still not perfect
Better, maybe. But you still relying on a 'legit' VPN for local content, isn't that just another layer of unpredictability? How do you plan to deal with the inherent lag and leaks when the VPN itself might be a weak link?

But if legit VPNs aren't perfect either, are we really fooling anyone or just throwing more unpredictability into the mix? at what point do we accept the chaos and build around it?

Disagree... geo proxies for local content are a sinking ship, always have been. You chasing leaks and lag like it's some kinda badge of honor. Work smarter, not harder. legit VPNs still better than proxies but if you're relying on them for local content you might as well try to herd cats with a laser pointer. Traffic source fatigue is a myth, the real problem is throwing money at chaos and hoping it sorts itself out. Build your LPs and creatives to withstand the chaos instead of chasing the perfect geo.
