Been testing VPNs for a while now and I gotta say I'm pretty frustrated with the whole process. Everyone claims their speeds are blazing fast but when you actually run tests, the numbers are all over the place. Some say they got 200 Mbps but when I test it myself, it's more like 50-70 Mbps. Protocols? Yeah right, they change the results too. OpenVPN used to be reliable but now it's like a lottery. And don't get me started on privacy claims, the speeds often tank once encryption kicks in. I know ymmv but I need real data, not marketing fluff. If anyone's got a solid methodology or can point me to actual transparent tests, I'd be all ears. Just tired of the hype and wish VPN providers would stop hiding the real speeds behind vague claims.

Just my 2 cents, you gotta try using speedtest.net with VPN connected and compare different servers and protocols consistently, also try running multiple tests at different times to get a real feel. Sometimes, VPN providers post some kind of transparency report or independent test results on sites like vpnreviews.com or trustpilot, but even then take it with a grain of salt. For real data, I've found using a tool like Glasnost
 
Ever tried different DNS settings or disabling IPv6? I found those can mess with VPN speed tests a lot. Do u stick to one test tool or switch around?
 
just my 2 cents, yep, reviews can be super hit or miss. people love to hype or bash VPNs w/o considering their setup or location. best to test with ur own tools and keep it consistent
