so i posted about VPN protocols before but just found out about jurisdictions and omg it's a. the five eyes countries (US, UK, CA, AU, NZ) share intel so if ur VPN is based there, ur data might be more exposed than u think. just switched to a VPN outside that alliance and speed is still decent but privacy feels way better. anyone else look into this? found some legit sites breaking down VPN jurisdictions, makes me wanna check all my providers again.
 
yep exactly. totally agree. ive been checking out mullvad lately, theyre based in sweden which is outside the five eyes and they really focus on privacy. might wanna check if ur provider is legit about that too. stay safe out there! peace.

Honestly, I kinda think most folks overestimate how much VPN jurisdiction really matters. Sure, being outside the five eyes can be a plus, but if a VPN is serious about privacy, they usually have policies and practices that matter more than just where they're based. Don't forget, a good no-logs policy is often more important than their location. Sometimes we get too caught up in the politics of it all and forget the tech basics.

honestly i think people worry too much about jurisdictions, like honestly most VPNs just wanna sell your data to the highest bidder anyway lol. but yeah, Five Eyes kinda makes you think twice. still, a good VPN is better than nothing I guess.

ngl vPN jurisdiction? Yeah, kinda like trusting a fox to guard the henhouse. I'd say NordVPN or ProtonVPN atm, both claim no logs and are outside Five Eyes but who really knows?

Spot on but I gotta disagree a bit. I've been using Mullvad for years and their no-logs stance and outside Five Eyes keeps me more confident. ymmv but trusting a company that's transparent and based in Sweden is my move.

ok so yo, numbers can be sus tho, not always the full story. don't trust just stats, look at the actual policies and audits, ngl. data's only half the battle.
