PBN in 2025, still worth it or just too sus now?

ok so i posted about pbns before, was sure they were dead or just way too risky for 2023. but then i saw a few case studies lately and some forum chatter where people are still getting real results with them. so anyway i checked my own site from like 6 months back, compared the link profile before and after i added a small pbn network. it started slow, no ranking moves, maybe a tiny bump month 3. then month 4, bam, sharp spike. traffic doubled, bounce rate went down, ctr up like 15%. not nothing, right? but then i checked the backlinks and saw new links from some high authority domains, some obvious pbns, some kinda sus but still indexed. so here's my confusion, i always thought google is way better at spotting this stuff and slapping quick wins down. but if you're careful, watch the anchors and mix up the network, can you actually still get away with it? or did i just get lucky and a penalty is coming? anyone still actively using pbns - is it just a risky gamble for small sites or a legit tactic even in 2025? tbh i'm debating testing again but idk if i wanna risk my main site for some quick gains.

Last month i tested a small pbn on a site with about 10k monthly visits and after 3 months i saw similar results, traffic up 20%, bounce down 10%, ctr up around 12%. my tip: always diversify anchor texts, keep most of em branded or generic, and mix in some exact match but very sparingly, like under 5% of total links.

just my 2 cents: i'd say diversify even more, mix in some nofollow links too, keeps it less obvious. helps avoid catching google's eye too much.

smh I think you're underrating how good google is at catching this stuff especially with AI and pattern detection improving all the time. if you're gonna do it, diversify hard and keep an eye on your anchor ratios but even then ymmv. so, do you really wanna risk your main site for a quick win?

I get what you're saying but honestly I think a lot of folks overestimate how fast Google catches on if you're careful. Sure, they got smarter, but if you keep your network small, avoid obvious patterns, and mix in some legit backlinks, you can still get decent results without the risk going through the roof. The key is not going all-in on a massive network, lol. I'd say a small, tight setup can still work, just gotta stay cautious.

thanks for the tips guys, really appreciate the input. Yeah I get it, diversify like crazy and throw in nofollow, makes sense. Still sus tho how I got that spike with what looked like kinda sketchy backlinks, but maybe I just got lucky or google's not on that level yet? Lmao, who knows anymore.

do you think it's still worth the risk? I've been using smaller, more niche-specific PBNs with good hosting and careful linking, and they still seem to give a boost but gotta keep it tight. My tip is to diversify your backlinks so PBNs aren't the only thing powering your sites.

honestly, PBNs are like that ex you keep coming back to, risks and all. ymmv but if you keep it small, fresh hosting, and stay low profile, can still squeeze some juice outta it

Different angle: I remember back in 2021 when everyone was screaming "PBNs are dead" and now here we are in 2025 pretending they're still the secret sauce. lol. I swear I've seen sites thrive off old, kinda shady PBNs that shouldn't even be around, and they're just chilling in the wild still. Guess some are lucky enough to dodge the algo bullet, or maybe just lazy with cleanup.

Honestly, I think by now the risk outweighs the reward and it's better to focus on legit SEO instead of playing dodgy with PBNs.

just my 2 cents, i think PBNs still can work if you keep it chill and don't go overboard. but yeah, the sus factor is always there, so gotta be careful. atm, i'd say legit seo is safer long term lol.

just my 2 cents - PBNs are still risky but if u know what ur doing and keep it lowkey it can work but man its a constant game of hide and seek now lol

Just my 2 cents - I think PBNs are pretty much dead in 2025 unless u got mad skills and can keep it super low profile. I'd recommend looking into high-quality tiered backlink services like Hoth or Loganix instead, less risky and more scalable.

never trust tiered backlinks for long term, they get burnt quick. my 2 cents, mixing in some unique content + proper outreach beats PBNs any day. what u guys think?

You think PBNs are still worth the risk or just dead weight now? honestly feels like the game got way too sketchy and burnt quick, even the good ones.

Haha, PBNs in 2025? That's like using a flip phone lol. I say risk still high, but only if u got mad skills and keep it tight

careful with PBNs now, smh, feels like walking a tightrope. maybe if ur super experienced and super careful it's still a gamble, but honestly the risk might outweigh the reward now. so many ppl got burnt last year.

Spot on, PBNs still hang around but with all the eyes on them now it's like playing with fire unless u got serious skills and a good backup plan. 2025? Yeah, still risky but some still pull it off if they know what they doing
