actually i think vpn can sometimes cut ping by like 10-20 ms if u pick the right server. but most of the time it adds extra latency cause ur routing through extra nodes. so depends on ur provider and game server location tbh
been doing this 12 years lol, honestly a lot of the hype is real but u gotta pick the right server and sometimes switch around. nordvpn and express usually hold up prettyyy good for me but yeah
