VPN browser extensions vs full apps for protocols

hey just a quick heads up, those vpn browser extensions are kinda sketch imo. they usually only protect your browser not your whole device. so if you torrent or use other apps they're basically useless. plus some use weak encryption which is a major privacy risk tbh. actual vpn apps use stuff like openvpn or wireguard which are way better and cover everything on your device. if you care about privacy and speed just skip the extension and get the full app. stay safe

ngl last month i finally ditched my browser extension for a full vpn app and yeah, the difference in privacy and speed is night and day. Extensions just a bandaid if you ask me.

Like 70% of VPN traffic is encrypted only when using full apps, not browser extensions. extensions just give a quick fix but imo they're not enough for real privacy. staying safe means going full app every time. catch you later, stay shady fam

different angle: do you think some ppl might prefer the convenience of extensions for quick checks even if they're less secure? or is full app always the move?

bruh, I once trusted a browser extension for quick stuff and ended up getting my IP leaked during a torrent. extensions are just a quick bandaid, no real privacy. never trust em for anything serious.

I gotta disagree with that part, they usually only protect your browser not your whole device is kinda false. some VPN extensions are built on top of the full VPN apps, so they do cover more than just your browser if set up right. but yeah, most free or sketchy ones are limited and don't offer the same security as full apps. ymmv, but just don't assume extensions alone cut it for real privacy.

spot on, but gotta say sometimes ppl just want quick convenience and don't care about full privacy for browsing casual stuff so extensions might still have a use case if you know what you're doing. but yeah, for torrenting or any serious privacy stuff full apps are the way to go.

ngl spot on. if you want solid privacy and speed, check out mullvad. they use WireGuard, no logs, and work across all devices.

Ever notice how extensions are more lightweight but often lack the security and stability of full apps? I've used both, and honestly, full apps give me more control and less issues with leaks or disconnects. extensions are quick but sometimes glitchy, especially on Chrome.

bruh, honestly I just use NordVPN's full app. The browser extension is handy but I don't trust it for serious stuff. Full apps are way more reliable for protocols and security.

careful with just relying on extensions, I once thought it was enough until I hit a weird leak and my real IP was exposed. switched to full apps after that, never going back. extensions are okay

nah, i think extensions can be sketchy for serious stuff, full apps just feel more solid and safer even tho they can be a pain to set up sometimes.

Thanks fam for the insights! Yeah, extensions are cool for quick browsing, but for real security and protocol control, full apps are where it's at. And totally agree, leaks suck, that's why I mostly stick with full apps too. Keep sharing your tips!
