just blew like 3k on a cold email campaign (outsourced it) and honestly I wanna scream. the CR was under 0.5 percent. everyone's out here selling these "magic templates" that supposedly get 20% replies lol like that's some fantasy land stuff. the problem isn't the template (kinda) it's more your targeting and what you're actually offering. sending "hey I love your site can I write for you" to some random blog editor who's been getting 50 of those a day since 2012. what did I think was gonna happen? also using ai now to write them makes everyone sound the same and kinda sus. so yeah templates are just a starting point maybe but if your list is trash and you got nothing real to offer (access, data, money) you're just adding to the noise. my numbers this month: sent 1200 emails, got 8 replies, 1 yes. epc = disaster.

Sounds like you hit the nail on the head, 0.5 percent is basically a kick in the nuts. Templates are just a seed, but if your list is trash and you're not offering anything real, you're just adding to the spam pile

But isn't the real issue more about how you approach the targeting rather than the template itself? Like, are you really digging into who actually cares or just blasting out generic emails and hoping?

I gotta disagree a bit, using AI isn't the enemy here. It's how you use it. If you customize and add your own flavor, it can save time and keep stuff from sounding cookie-cutter. The real problem is in the strategy and targeting, not the AI.

Bruh, I hear ya. I spent like 2k on a campaign last year, same result, cringey open rates. It's all about legit targeting and real value, not just throwing money at templates and AI

yeah exactly, once everyone started using AI, the emails just blurred together and lost authenticity, sooo I guess the key is really personalizing and showing you understand their biz instead of relying too much on templates or AI.

Careful with that mindset tho, I did the same mistake early on, thinking a template is gonna do the work. got some OK results at first but then hit a wall. what changed was when I started focusing on who I was targeting and what I really had to give, not just some generic script.

Nah, templates aren't garbage, just mostly useless without solid targeting and real value. I've seen 0.2% CTRs turn into 10% when I actually did my homework on prospects and had something they actually care about. Numbers don't lie, ymmv but sounds like you're just shooting in the dark.

Are you trying out tools like Mailshake or Lemlist with personalized videos? ymmv but adding that extra layer of authenticity helps cut through the noise better than just AI-generated text.

Haha, reminds me of that one time I spent a ton on a 'secret sauce' email tool that promised 30% reply rates. ended up with like 0.3% and a bunch of annoyed prospects. sometimes I swear the universe just wants to see us fail with those shiny promises. maybe we should start selling "how to ignore spammy outreach" courses instead.

Do you think personalizing with actual insights about their business or pain points might boost response rates more than generic offers? Seems like the focus on targeting and message relevance might matter more rn.
