Which VPNs have been independently audited? Curious about legit privacy

been digging into VPNs lately and noticed some advertise they've been audited by third parties but others don't mention it at all. like, who actually got audited and who just claims to be private? i read some stuff about ProtonVPN and Mullvad being transparent with audits but Nord and Express seem to dodge that talk. honestly, i just wanna know if those audits mean anything or if it's just marketing hype. if anyone has info on real audits or can link to legit reports, that'd be dope. also, do audits really mean their privacy claims are legit or just a badge they throw around? trying to figure out who's actually serious about privacy atm. thanks in advance for any info or personal experiences!

Yep exactly, audits can be kinda marketing fluff sometimes. Proton and Mullvad seem legit with their transparency, but a lot of others just throw that buzzword around. Don't forget, even if a VPN passes an audit, it doesn't mean they're perfect or that they're not just hiding something else behind the scenes. Always take audits with a grain of salt, ymmv.

just my 2 cents, I remember seeing a report on ProtonVPN's audit and it looked pretty solid. had a buddy run their own testing on Mullvad's privacy claims too. sometimes the real proof is in how much they're willing to put out there rather than just claiming audits.

yep exactly audits can be kinda marketing fluff sometimes, but if you wanna spot legit ones check for independent reports on sites like Cure53 or Deloitte sometimes they audit VPNs too. always read the actual report not just the buzzwords. signing off, stay sharp out

last month I used Cure53's audit reports to check the legit-ness of VPNs, and honestly it's a solid place to start since they do real independent audits and publish detailed reports, ymmv.

spot on. i think audits can be legit but also kinda just a badge tbh. i looked into cure53 stuff for Proton and Mullvad and it seemed real, but honestly, u gotta read the reports yourself and not just

Last month I was digging into VPN audits too and I found that Cure53 is prettyyy much the only legit service I trust for real independent audits. They publish full reports and usually go deep enough to see if a VPN is actually serious about privacy or just pretending. If you want to cut through the marketing hype, check Cure53's website and read their reports on Proton, Mullvad, or even some smaller VPNs. That's honestly the best way to see if the audit means anything or if it's just a badge.

Careful with just trusting the buzz around audits, they can be kinda superficial unless you dig into the actual reports. I'd recommend checking out Cure53's audit reports if you want a real look at what's been scrutinized and how thoroughly. They publish full, detailed reports, so you can see if the claims hold up or if it's just marketing spin

You sure about that? Nord and Express have published some audit summaries on their sites. Not full reports but enough to see they're legit about security, imo. Proton and Mullvad being transparent is nice but don't forget, audits don't mean everything, just a part of the picture.

ok so i kinda disagree that full reports are always the best indicator tho. I've seen some VPNs publish fancy reports but still not be super private in real world tests. Sometimes the audits are just surface level, ymmv. I'd rather see actual user reviews or independent tests beyond the audits lol.

You really trust those audits? I'd take them with a grain of salt. Sometimes they're just quick checkups or even outsourced audits that don't mean much. Fwiw, real privacy is more about how they handle data day to day not some report.

different angle: i agree audits are just one piece of the puzzle. from my experience, even legit audits can miss stuff or be outdated. honestly, real privacy comes down to how they handle logs and their policy transparency, not just the audit reports.
