VPN audit results - which ones are actually real?

so like I keep seeing VPNs talk about their 'independent audits' but honestly idk how many are legit or just paid for some fancy report. im talkin real third-party security guys actually checking their stuff not just marketing bs. who's really been through the ringer lately? I hear Proton and Mullvad are mentioned a lot but what about the others? anyone got the scoop on who's actually being transparent?

careful with just trusting those so-called audits. check out vpnmentor.com and look for their recent testing reports. they actually have third-party security firms do independent checks, not just marketing spin.

I wouldnt just take their word for it. look at who actually publishes the audit and if they are named security firms with a track record. if they're vague about who did it or it's a company you never heard of, thats a red flag. always verify the auditors themselves.

Honestly, most of those audits are kinda smoke and mirrors. If you wanna know for real, use a tool like AV-TEST or Cure53 to do a quick check yourself. They actually do hands-on testing and give real feedback, not just marketing fluff.

Spot on but I think some of those firms might still have a bit of bias or limited scope. Like, even if it's a legit audit, it doesn't mean the VPN isn't hiding something else in the fine print. Always good to check user reviews and real-world tests too.

Yep totally, I remember once I saw a VPN claimin they had a top-tier audit but turns out it was just a vague report from some obscure firm that no one had heard of before. Always makes me wonder if they're just hyping it up for marketing.

Been doing this for over 3 years now and I've seen quite a few VPN audits that seem legit on paper but turn out to be full of holes. Sometimes I think these audits get exaggerated or skewed by who pays for them or the metrics they choose to highlight. Sure, some are real, but I wouldn't take every claim at face value without digging a bit deeper myself.

Always dig into who's funding the audit, that's where the sus stuff hides. Don't just trust the headline, check the methodology and see if it's legit or just PR. Some of these audits are smoke and mirrors, so beware

Been doing this for over 3 years and I've seen maybe 10-15 audits that actually hold water, but most are just hype or paid to boost a VPN's rep.

spot on. most of these audits are just marketing fluff, ymmv. dig into who's paying for it and what criteria they use. if it sounds too good to be true or sketchy, it probably is.

honestly I think most of these "audits" are just shiny objects meant to lure noobs. If a VPN's not transparent about their logging policies or the audit's sketchy, I'd ignore it. Too many just wanna sell hype.

I gotta disagree that any of these audits are truly 100% legit. If you really wanna weed out the fake ones, focus on whether the VPN has a transparent logging policy and check if the audit was done by a known, independent firm with clear standards. Most of these so-called audits are just marketing smoke screens anyway.

yo yep exactly. one thing I always do is check if the audit was done by a legit third party and see if they detail the scope. if they hide that info, run.

oP, just a heads up, the word is "which ones are actually real" not "which ones are actually real?" that question mark kinda messes with the tone. Also, most of these so-called audits are just marketing tricks, so always dig deeper into who did it and what scope they covered
