Free link building methods that actually work? Kinda lost here

ok been trying to figure out free link building lately and tbh most advice seems like garbage or just outdated. like guest posting and outreach are the basics obviously but ppl talk about it like its some magic trick when its not. anyone actually found legit methods that don't mean buying links or using PBNs but still work? i wanna know what you guys are really doing that's lowkey effective without getting sketchy or wasting a ton of time. i keep hearing about broken link building or niche edits but it feels so hit or miss, dont wanna chase ghosts. if you've got a method thats more white hat but still kinda scalable lmk. just so tired of the same recycled advice that does nothing in 2023.

bruh I tried broken link building last year and honestly it felt like chasing ghosts, hit or miss for sure. one thing I did that was kinda lowkey was just building legit relationships in forums or niche communities, like not even for links but just to be part of the convo. worked a little better than expected but still not some magic, just takes time.

disagree, I think some old methods like broken link building still work if you put in the effort but yeah, it's not a magic bullet. Have you tried creating super niche-specific resource pages that get natural backlinks? Or do you think that's too slow?

different angle: instead of chasing ghost links, you could try creating high-value content that naturally attracts backlinks, like data-driven tools or detailed guides, then promote them on niche forums and social media, fwiw, I saw a case where that brought in 30+ quality links in a few months with minimal outreach.

bruh, I feel you but honestly, I've found that building relationships in niche communities and being active there gives me like 3-4 solid backlinks a month without chasing ghosts. it's slow but it's legit and scalable if you keep at it lol

Ever thought about using HARO or Help a Reporter Out? rn it's not super scalable but if you pitch right and land a few legit quotes or mentions it can boost your authority and get some decent backlinks without sketchy stuff.

Actually tried that, got a few decent links from some niche tools and detailed guides but ymmv, it's slow as hell and not really scalable without some outreach still. not saying it doesn't work but don't expect a flood of links just by content alone unless you're lucky or have a huge network.

quick thought: yeah, luck plays a big role but I got decent results using hunter.io for outreach, found some legit contacts that actually reply. not perfect but beats chasing ghosts.

Different angle: try creating resource pages or tools for your niche and reaching out as a helpful contributor, not just link builder. Builds legit authority and can attract backlinks naturally without much hassle.

last month i tried broken link building and honestly it felt like chasing ghosts, but i realized it works better if u actually build a solid resource first and then pitch it. kinda like giving value instead of just asking for links. might be slow but at least it's white hat and more scalable long term. just gotta get over the initial grind.

I was messing with niche edits last year and kept hitting dead ends till I started building actual relationships with webmasters in my niche. once I got that trust, they started linking back without me asking. weird how it works when u just focus on genuine connections instead of just chasing links.

Honestly, I stopped chasing quick wins like broken links or niche edits and started just making legit content ppl wanna link to. had a buddy who built a tiny tool for his niche, kinda like a calculator or something, and ended up getting a bunch of backlinks from legit sites without much outreach. sometimes just doing the work and making something worth sharing beats all the shady tricks.

just my 2 cents: have u tried using HARO? it's not totally free but u can get legit backlinks by answering journalists' queries. tools like Pitchbox or JustReachOut can help automate the process a bit if u wanna scale it.

different angle: have u thought about leveraging broken link building? it's kinda old school but if u find relevant sites with dead links, u can reach out and suggest ur content as a replacement. not totally free if u do it manually but u can automate some parts with tools like Check My Links or use browser extensions. works if u do it right lol

Last month i spent ages manually hunting broken links on niche sites, and honestly most of those sites had no link juice or traffic to even bother with. Automating with tools helps, yeah, but u still gotta find the right sites and get a yes, which is the real challenge. U can't just blast out requests and expect a flood of legit backlinks,

Spot on but imo most "free" methods are a grind and often hit or miss. I'd argue the real trick is stacking small wins like guest posting, skimming niche forums, or even just making solid content people wanna link to. No silver bullet, but persistence still beats quick tricks every time

Last month I tried broken link building but honestly most of the sites I found had dead links on pages with no traffic. Sometimes it's just a waste of time unless u find the right niche and high-authority sites. might wanna test other methods too.

Yeah, I remember last year I kept hitting dead ends with outreach but then I accidentally got a legit backlink from a comment on a niche blog I barely follow, so now I wonder if just being persistent on random small channels is underrated?

Yeah, last month I spent ages on broken links in a niche I thought was promising, but most of those sites were dead or no traffic. Sometimes u gotta just move on or get lucky with a comment or smth random lol

You think free link building methods really only work with luck or niche sites? Imho, consistent commenting or resource pages still bring some results, even if slow. Maybe it's about trying different things until u hit a small win.
