tbh im so tired of people acting like proxy types are all the same. socks5 and http are totally different you gotta pick the right one for your job. socks5 is way better for raw speed and staying under the radar - like scraping big sites or running stealth bots. http proxies are more for browser stuff, simpler automation, or if you want an easier setup. but everyone just assumes they're interchangeable and burns through proxies thinking it doesn't matter. ymmv but you really gotta know when to use each. anyone have actual real-world examples not just theory? i wanna hear what actually worked for you or when you got burned using the wrong type
 
Just my 2 cents, ran a big scraping gig and used socks5 for the heavy lifting - faster, less errors, stayed under radar. Tried http proxies for some quick browser automation, but they got burned quick when I needed stealth. ymmv
 
last month i was runnin a big bot and socks5 saved me from bans but i wonder, do u guys switch proxy types mid-project or stick to one?
 
yeah I totally get the socks5 speed and stealth advantage, but tbh I've seen way too many legit sites block or flag socks proxies faster than http ones sometimes. once I tried switching to http for a quick login automation and surprisingly it held up longer. sometimes I think mixing it up mid-project is the way to go if u don't wanna get burned or flagged. just gotta be ready to switch fast when things start getting sus.
 
different angle: yeah socks5 is faster and stealthy but i've seen legit sites get smarter, block socks proxies quicker sometimes especially if they catch patterns or detect the behavior. for small quick hits socks5 rocks but if u wanna run long-term, sometimes switching to http or mixing it up keeps u safer. smh, never just rely on one type blindly.
 
spot on, switching proxy types during a big run can save your ass sometimes. i've done it a few times when i noticed bans creeping in faster than expected with socks5. better to adapt than stick to one, especially if the site gets smarter.

bruh, honestly I think it kinda depends more on what ur doing than just socks5 or HTTP. I've seen some peeps get away with HTTP for some stuff but socks5 is way more versatile for more complex tasks like scraping or things needing more control. It's not always black and white, sometimes socks5 is just better overall for certain tasks, don't sleep on it.
 
Like 70% of the time I prefer socks5 for anything that involves P2P or complex protocols rn. HTTP proxies are kinda limited but faster for quick web scraping or simple tasks. Keep in mind, socks5 handles UDP better which is a big plus for some use cases
 
honestly yo u ever try proxyrotator for this kinda stuff? switch between socks5 and HTTP on the fly so u don't gotta sweat which to pick most times.
 
careful with that, not all socks5 are equal and some don't handle UDP well at all. make sure u test the specific proxy if UDP is a must. otherwise, it's just hype.

careful with that, I had a different experience tho. I mainly use socks5 for faster p2p and streaming, while HTTP is what I need for simple web scraping, but I found some socks5 with crap speed and connection issues. so, really depends on the proxy quality and what u need. dont just go by the label.
 
Haha, socks5 and HTTP proxies walk into a bar. one's faster, one's more web friendly. Tip I'd throw in: always test your proxies with the specific apps or use cases in mind. Like, if you plan to do anything UDP-heavy or streaming, socks5 might be your buddy but check for speed and stability first
 
tbh last month i tried socks5 for streaming and p2p but ended up with random disconnects and lag, so i kinda went back to HTTP for that and just stuck with socks5 for specific tasks. sometimes ya gotta accept that socks5 isn't all rainbows and unicorns, especially if they skimp on the quality.
