Split testing tools that don't make me wanna tear my hair out

Honestly I've tried so many split testing tools over the years and most of them just add more headaches than they solve. You get promises of easy data, real-time stats, blah blah but then you're stuck with tools that crash, give you wonky numbers, or just plain refuse to work unless you jump through hoops. So I finally started digging into the data myself and stopped relying on these fancy tools. Turns out the best thing is a simple spreadsheet with A/B test data logged manually. Yeah I know, old school but it's way more reliable and faster to see what actually moves the needle without waiting for some flaky dashboard to update. Plus, I keep a little note on every change I make so I can correlate stuff better. The big trick is to focus on small tests, keep variables minimal, and just track everything in one place. It's dull but it's honest and I don't get these weird glitches that mess up my numbers. Anyone else just give up on these overhyped tools and go back to basics?

haha, yeah, sometimes the old school way is just less headache. I've been doing the same with spreadsheets for years and it's honestly faster and more reliable than most of these fancy tools. I've tracked over 200 tests this way and the data is way cleaner than the wonky dashboards.

different angle: yeah spreadsheets are solid but don't forget to automate the boring parts if you wanna scale. like, use a script or zap to pull data from whatever platform you use into your sheet so you're not manually copying numbers all the time. keeps it quick and reduces typos.

Honestly I get it but smh, isn't it kinda risky relying on manual data? What if u mess up the logs or forget to note something? I feel like even simple tools can catch stuff u miss when doing it all by hand.

yo, same here lol, once I started logging stuff manually in a sheet I stopped stressing over flaky dashboards. my biggest hack is just setting a reminder to double-check my notes at the end of each day so I don't forget what I changed. keeps me honest and my data clean. fam, sometimes old school just hits different.

Been doing this 3 years and I think you meant "wonky numbers" not "wonkey" right? Or is that a new thing?

Honestly I think sometimes the simplest way is the best way. Tools are just fancy distractions, mostly. If you can stay disciplined with a spreadsheet and small tests, you're ahead of most who chase shiny dashboards.

bruh, I did the same thing once when I got fed up with all the flaky tools. I started logging everything in a simple Google sheet, but then I added a little color-coding for wins and losses, so I could spot trends faster w/o digging through all the numbers. kinda lowkey made it way more fun and less of a chore.

different angle: I get the no-hassle vibe, but maybe try a super lightweight tool like Google Data Studio or even a basic dashboard in Google Sheets. It can automate some of the logging without all the crashes, and you still keep control. Ever thought about a simple automated setup like that?

i kinda disagree tho, spreadsheets are good but they still need manual input which can be slow and prone to human error. sometimes a decent tool just makes data collection quicker and more consistent, even if it's annoying sometimes. old school's cool but automation can save a lot of hassle lol.

different angle: I tried that too but ended up overcomplicating stuff with too many small tests. Sometimes just doing big, clear wins with less fuss actually moves the needle more. Less variables, less headache.

bruh, u said "wonky numbers" but u mean "wonky" not "wonkey" lol. that always cracks me up, like some weird typo that sticks. anyway, ur no-hype, back-to-basics vibe is kinda how I got into this mess in the first place, chasing shiny tools and end up with a headache.

Appreciate the tips, automation is smart when scaling but for quick stuff I still trust my spreadsheet method. And yeah, manual logs can be risky but I double-check my entries, keeps me honest. Sometimes gotta keep it simple before jumping into complicated setups
