Just did some tests with a few proxy providers and wow it's kinda nostalgic. Back in the day you could run a basic datacenter proxy with some script kiddie browser tweaks and get like 100ms latency, enough for most scraping stuff without too much hassle. Now I'm messing around with modern anti-detect setups using resi proxies and fingerprint spoofing. The numbers are kinda funny but sad - one big provider gave me like 850ms avg response time, another was around 600 but had a crazy 40% failure rate on connections during the test. imo it feels like we swapped raw speed for this endless game of cat and mouse with detection, idk if it's even worth it sometimes when simple tasks take forever.

honestly honestly, I think speeds back then were kinda overrated. I ran plenty of scrapers rn and even with slower proxies, if you know how to throttle or queue requests properly, you still get decent results without risking bans. Speed isn't everything if your setup gets flagged constantly
 
Have you ever tried running a simple scraper with those anti-detect setups just to see how slow it gets rn? I did once and was like, 'did I just go back in time or what?'
 
ngl been doing this 3 years and honestly, speed is overrated if you ask me. i'd focus more on request management like throttling or randomizing headers so you don't get flagged. faster isn't always better if you get banned faster.
 
exactly this, speed can be a trap. if your request rate screams bot, you get banned no matter how fast you are. slow and steady wins, or at least keeps you in the game longer.
 
Haha, man, if you wanna squeeze out those '08 speeds, try stormproxies. They're kinda old-school but still decent for certain stuff, especially if you just need a quick boost without all the fancy bells and whistles.

Spot on. I've messed around with some old anti-fingerprinting tools and proxies and yeah, you can still squeeze out those kinda speeds if you don't push it too hard. But honestly, most modern setups seem to be throttled or just built for security over speed now. Sometimes I wonder if it's even worth chasing those old speeds, da. YMMV tho. Keep grinding.

Different angle: if you really wanna chase those old school speeds, try rolling with super basic proxies and turn off all fingerprinting scripts on your browser. less stuff running, less fingerprinting, more speed. but tf, that kinda defeats the point of anti-fingerprinting stuff.
 
just my 2 cents, underrated comment can be gold, sometimes the simple stuff hits harder than all the fancy tricks lol.
 
Thanks for the replies, guys. Stormproxies still can give you that boost if you don't need stability, but don't expect miracles. As for hitting those old speeds, honestly, I think it's mostly nostalgia now. Still, if anyone's found a setup that actually does it, lemme know.
